Objectively, I think if Obi was being used as a 6th man, starter playing 28mpg, that's about right. At 20mpg... idk..

That’s nothing. Obi was good on that team. Even did us in the the playoffs multiple times.

Overpaid

12.4 million is MLE. Obi got 15 a year…in that context, not too bad. Beyond that, he’s a unique player, for better or worse. As a fan, I really dislike his weaknesses at the center position, but the Pacers are fine with it and use him off the bench.

I think it does underscore some of the good decisions the Knicks have made, though. We have some guys getting paid similarly that are better.

60 million for a guy who doesn't play defense.

Flawed low skilled player…his game will age horribly …contract isn’t terrible now but I would use it for a player who has more long term sustainability

That's quite an overpay IMO....won't make or break the Pacers but I thought the new CBA would make teams think hard about these deals. Good for Obi and good for all rival teams....that deal is instantly an undesirable asset in today's NBA.

yeah but ihart in theory starts or will start because mitch will of course get hurt at some point. you can pay a guy that money to play 30+ minutes/game

really the problem imo is that IND is paying their "star" PF 190m then paid his backup PF 60m and they are both mostly PFs

Obi wasn't a fleecing. We traded him for a 2nd round pick. If Indy plans on using him, 22-25 minutes a night, it's not bad. It feels a little high though.

Pacers should have been bounced in the first round and now they are paying their guys. They are doing what Draymond and some fans think the Knicks are doing.
