OT: Disney just pulled ESPN from DirecTV

Those who subscribe to DirecTV as their streaming provider found the it tonight, with no warning, that Disney pulled ESPN, ABC, NatGeo, and others without warning. Of course that means those Knicks games on ESPN will vanish for DirecTV subscribers. I don’t like ESPN but I would miss the Knicks games they carry. If it lasts through the playoffs, there is a free 21 day subscription to YouTube TV. It includes ESPN.

Yeah this sucks. I have DTV streaming and ESPN, FX, ABC are all blacked out.

We looked at DTV as a cheaper alternative to cable and my family shares the account. I hope this gets resolved quickly, I don't really care for ESPN but the WNBA playoffs are coming up.

I might have to check out YouTube TV now. Damn

ya this does suck. My area we have comcast and I had to switch to Direct TV stream in order to watch Knicks games. Now I have to deal with Direct TV not having espn and abc. Hopefully they can resolve this contract issue and disney will be back on Direct TV.

It's always the customer who gets punished when these companies pull this garbage. There should be laws against this stuff. At least give customers a written warning before pulling the plug.

Problem is you’d have to separately subscribe to MSG if you drop DirecTV and also to Yes if you’re a Yankees fan (NOT to watch the Nets LOL)

Thankfully I have both MSG and yes from my daughter's optimum acct to fall back on. Guess I'll have to use ESPN the same way if they don't fix this. Direct TV sucks.

So now I'm going to end up paying what I'd pay for cable if they don't fix this.

Late stage capitalism is a bitch

Where do you live? I live in Philadelphia and got all Knicks games on League Pass. I have Xfinity/Comcast.

I'm in New Jersey close to the jersey shore. Knicks and sixers are blacked out on league pass for me.

These scumbag companies. Dish Network did this
to me with MSG 15 years ago, like 2 months into a 2 year contract. It was never resolved for the life of my contract. If they're gonna break contract, they should give you an out.

I know this is Direct TV and Disney, but MSG has been in a lot of disputes like this

I'm researching it now since I don't know much about it

I found a site call Exhas that looks promising.

According to them, you install an app for whatever OS you're running on and then you pay them the subscription to watch the programs. Their channel listing implies all of the NBA games will be viewable and that they have cloud recording to save the games.

Do you know this service or recommend any in particular?

Yeah...Dish Network was terrible. ZERO local sports. They were dirt cheap at the time though. 39.99 a month. I had it for almost a year but, Linsanity happened and I switched to Verizon immediately.

YouTube TV is way overpriced, but 21 days free is hard to argue with.

I went commercial free on YouTube and I'm happy with that decision. Good for music and they have a pretty good selection of free movies, but YouTube TV I took one look and said no way.

Disney is finally back starting today but costs will go up next month. Ah whatever just happy its back. I was really considering switching to verizon but now I don't have to worry about that anymore.
