yeah Fred Katz was really good...he will be missed on the knicks beat.

We suffered many years of terrible coverage. The Berman/Isola/etc years were horrible.

Definitely deserves the promotion. Like Herring before him. Hopefully the pipeline of good beat reporters continues.

I enjoyed his stuff. Especially the Pod stuff. Good for him. I do hope he still plans on making Pod appearances with some of our Knicks casters, though.

Loved Fred being on KFS and KFTV i know others probably had them but those are my 2 Knicks channels. A Lil sprinkle of knicksverse and rawhewbrewremnant.

Isn't this the second time the Knicks writer took over more overall NBA stuff and they brought over a guy from the pistons?

Also its funny because I am pretty sure the knicks beat is a stepping stone to the national beat based on engagement, because the fanbase is so heavily engaged and large. So the transition to a bigger role is almost a guarantee if they use reader metrics as a fsctor in the decision of who moves up.

The guy who produces KFS also produces Katz and Shoot. Just found out yesterday

Damn, Fred is great. Happy for him and hope he can still connect with some of the Knicks content creators on YouTube from time to time. He's always a great guest. Funny knowledgeable and entertaining. Always a good read.

I don't know much about Edwards, Fred Katz's replacement, but he wrote that he has NO relationship with any of the Knicks players.

He went on to say he knew almost all the Detroit players since they entered the NBA. This may be good for Fred, but in terms of getting articles with valuable info about the Knicks, we're screwed. This is a very important year coming up and I feel bad that a major writer for the Knicks won't be covering them.
