Re: WWIII Thread
It'll take a bit more than Israel vs Iran to start WWIII. IMHO. Russia is probably closer to starting WWIII than Iran or Israel.
Just my 2 cents. Not that this war isn't serious, but it's probably not WWIII. It's just missiles so far, no invading armies.
Am I wrong?

Low key the knicks winning the chip, could be a foretold sign of the end of human civilization. Nobody on this board should be surprised.

I think the sentiment is both conflicts are pushing the world to WWIII hopefully cooler heads prevail.

Turkey a NATO member is threatening to support Lebanon and saying Israel must be stopped. I think we're close to a world war, armies won't be invading at first, they'll be fighting proxy battles until some kind of mistake happens then it's full royal rumble.

FWIW, Turkey has been saying this for years and probably decades.
On the surface, they might come off as this Muslim nationalist country. But their elites and leaders prioritize profits over anything else.
Look at what happened to Bosnia and Kosovo in the 90s/early 2000s during the Yugoslav Wars. Both these countries converted to Islam under Ottoman/Turkish rule. Yet, not much (if any support) from Turkey in a smaller region. Because they were banking on both sides of the conflicts.
And they are doing it right now. They have key pipelines going to that ME/Israel area.

If we have to equate it to WWII... I'm guessing that the Russia Ukraine war is kind of the preamble to WWIII just like the Spain Civil War was to WWII. So I think the goal with Russia is to take them out or weaken them as much as possible so they can't support or be a part of a WW3 in the Middle East
It definitely looks like WW3 is on the horizon. And it looks like the Middle East will be the main front.
Just my IMO
Then there's China and Taiwan. But all those semiconductor/chip factories are set to denote if China does a full invasion. So I'm not sure exactly China wants that.

We will need to find replacements in case Precious and McBride get drafted.

Re: WWIII Thread
Lot of the focus is on the Middle East and Israel.
But there's still a very large civil war in Sudan
Russia Ukraine
Civil War in Yemen, Ethiopia, Haiti
Armenia vs Azerbaijan
There's a bunch I don't have listed.
https://www.cfr.org/global-conflict-tracker
Lot of these are listed as "critical" and "worsening".
There also a lot of hatred with migrants/immigration, especially in Europe. Tensions are getting really hot.

2027 off-season? That's a ways off. The thought process is that 8 players can be protected, so who will NY protect 3 years from now? That's a mind bender
2027 off season:
KAT: player option
OG - under contract - protect, unless injury issues.
Brunson - under contract - protect
Bridges - free agent the year prior, 2026
Josh Hart - team option / protect
Mitch - free agent 2026
McBride - free agent 2027
Precious - free agent 2025
Kolek - Team option
Dadiet - Team option
Hukporti / McCuller - who knows. two way contracts this year.
2026 first round pick (yes, they still have that) - who knows.
WAY WAY WAY too soon to try to figure that one out.

Re: WWIII Thread
What I'm reading on this missile barrage is that many were deflected by a combination of the Israel and US defense systems and there were no deaths on the Israeli side. One Palestinian death which might have been an Iran missile or could have been and Israel strike - that remains unclear.
Iran is claiming some damage to Israel bases, but that's also unconfirmed. And Israel is promising retaliation. That's the only potential risk. The Iran attack itself doesn't look like it was very effective.
As usual, I'm open to correction but that's what I've read on this so far.

I think you are correct. Almost all outlets are saying the risk now is the scale of Israel's retaliation.
As far as the one Palestinian death, from what I read (and the video I accidentally watched :/), it was debris from an Israeli missile that intercepted an Irani missile.

Yep. 100% lip service. The Turkish people are definitely Pro-Palestine, and Erdogan lost a lot of votes last election, and many believe it is due to his passiveness in this conflict, including still providing Israel with oil + gas. He's still in power. I'm not sure how their politics work, but I think his parliament is split now. So he's going to what whatever he can to appease his people.

Election interference that will potentially end the world as we know it. We can't even get out from under the pandemic and shyt just keeps **** rolling in.
No doubt in my mind though that these countries are doing this to interfere with our election and see just what America is willing to do about it. If we abandon Israel they are doomed. If Israel doesn't dial it down are we supposed to go to war for them? Both nations are pushing this forward and we are in the middle of it. Just like Russia and Ukraine. How far is that gonna go?
This world is going to hell.

Biden needs to jump start WW3 by nuking 4 or 5 cities in Iran. Actually he could nuke France for all I care. Just get it going.

If we go to war, Harris will lose 40 states. It's that simple IMO.
