Thank you Charles Oakley

We all need to give credit to the man who woke up Dolan and made him into a better owner for these Knicks.
Oakley made statement that Dolan doesn't care about the former players he has his favorites .

Right after Charles Oakley was arrested at MSG, it didn't look great for both sides. But Dolan all of the sudden

Made amends with Latrell Sprewell, Marcus Camby , Larry Johnson. You see John Wallace , Nate Robinson, Junk yard dog and etc....Now you see them attending our games regularly and now some work for the knicks in the fan base. Even the old players from the 70s and 80s were getting medical treatments.

This is where the once knick always a knick came from right after Oakleys controversy and the league and the fans took notice

Finally they brought Patrick Ewing back home after 24 years as basketball Ambassador.

This is why the knicks are heading to the right direction. It starts from.the top

Thank you Oakley.

I don't know about that. Dolan might be a lot of things (bad) but he always struck me as a guy that tried to take care of his players. Oakley wasn't an angel in this whole back and forth thing and seemed to want more than what would be reasonable.

Oakley can suck a dick,

In hindsight and by actual player testimony Dolan was never bad to his players. His failure was hiring the wrong people and being too loyal to them.

He's paying them to show up because these dudes have no more money left. Dolan doesn't have a heart. Please.

Did y'all forget about his AI face recognition cameras at the Garden?

Bingo. If anything, Dolan suffers from over-loyalty.

There's really one person to truly thank, and that's Leon Rose.

None of these fluff pieces matter unless you are winning. If we were losing, we'd be saying "Look at Dolan trying to bring old players in attendance to try and distract us from the fact the team sucks a$$".

..... IDK something changed. Personally I think Steve Mills was a yes man without a plan except to keep his job, and once he was fired and Leon Rose came in things changed. Leon has seen the insides and out of what successful franchises do over the years and brought all of that here.

Leon gets credit for the turn around, and it's worth noting that Leon didn't always get it right. The Fournier / Kemba walker season. Yuck, and I'll fess up, At the time, I was excited about what those 2 brought.

But Fournier was flipped for Boggle who was flipped for Bridges so . . . he turned lemons into lemonade, spending several picks in the process, but most of us like what Leon has put together and with his cap wizard (forget the guys name), those 2 guys get credit.

As for Oak. I love Oak. Even if Oak was in the wrong, which I gather he was, not having read more than 2 paragraphs about this, Dolan handled it poorly and I'll never forgive Dolan for that, not that I would have forgiven Dolan anyway. I just don't like the guy for multiple reasons. I'm team Oak.

Owners should work things out with beloved former players. I didn't care for George Steinbrenner (sp?) either but one of the things he got right was making up with Yogi Berra. Have a meeting with Oak. Have a photo op. Work things out. I don't think Oak is a bad guy and I think getting 10 security guards to throw him out was got a lot of attention that wasn't necessary.

Spoiled billionaire inherits the team, runs it into the ground for 20 years. Oak was one of our few bright spots. Dude should have a big plaque in MSG, not be banned from the building. F*ck Dolan. That's where I come down on this.

Honestly I always thought that was the moment Porzingus was like “let me get out of here the jokes are true”. Since he left he realized that honestly the fact the franchise wanted to give him the keys was a blessing he wasted, but the Oak incident was the nadir of the team…. That or Fizdale’s big smile when he was down like 49 to the bucks and a game away from being fired.

I loved Oak the player but I don't like Oak the person after retirement. He comes across as a grumpy, jealous, delusional narcissistic old man. He cant even give an interview without coming across as aggressive and rude. Keep him away from MSG and don't let him ruin the good vibes.

I haven't seen footage of the incident in 2017, but apparently, Oakley was sitting near Dolan and Oak was probably saying a little too loudly how bad the Knicks were, and he wasn't wrong. Dolan, in response, had him removed from the arena.

Granted, I didn't see the footage. I don't know how loud he was or if he poured his beer on Dolan or anything, but based on the reporting, Dolan didn't like what Oakley was saying and that was enough to have him removed.

I've not seen many (basically none) Oakley interviews over the last few years. You may be right on how he comes across.

I find it hard to believe that Dolan would have had a random fan removed for talking trash about how bad the Knicks were, but he had Oakley removed, maybe cause Oak was his guest, or, whatever. It still feels wrong to me to this day.

Now if Oak was fall down drunk or singing Klingon opera at the top of his lungs, then I'm wrong and Dolan did the right thing, but as I said, I wasn't there.

John McEnroe was sitting a few rows behind where Oak was sitting and didn’t hear him say the things Dolan claimed he said. I’m behind Oakley 100% on this. I can’t believe we have pusswads here who support Dolan over Oakley, who gave his blood, sweat, and tears for us Knicks fans.

All love what Oak did for us on the court and that we basically had a player in his architype for over a decade after.

Oak clearly did something different though... not sure what REALLY happened, but Dolan has taken care of a ton of guys, maybe it's a bit of trumpism "hey you are here to be positive for the brand" and Oak doesn't bend the knee... maybe it's something else... I don't know.

Oak is easy to root for because of what he did on the court, Dolan is easy to cheer against because of his decisions, that he represents capitalism, etc. However if you look at just the case here, Oak feels like a "when keeping it real goes wrong" case.
