Granted he may be waived tomorrow but he's a Knick tonight.

This could be the audition of a lifetime. I expect he will play a lot today, at least 27.
Seconds.

I’ve never seen Thibs incorporate a shooter that can’t play defense well into his scheme. Will be shocking if he does anything significant with this team.

yup we are thin at the wing spot. At minimum he can come in an stretch the floor in a pinch. Historically OG's health hasn't been great and we don't have too many backup 4's on the roster outside of precious when he comes back and he doesn't shoot well. This would at least be decent insurance for a spacing 4 on the roster.

He can only get spot minutes if we surround him with 4 plus defenders. So maybe when Precious returns.

McCullers is still injured, isn’t he? Plus, is he a sharpshooter from 3?

If he's a Shamet placeholder and KAT or OG is a Giannis placeholder, this team's chemistry will be totally for sh⥜t.

Yes, he is still injured, and, no, he's not a good 3pt shooter. However, Thibs seems to have been fine having a 12 man squad this far and I think the Knicks could have gainfully used the next six weeks to figure out if they really want Ryan or whether what they really need to spend one vet min salary on is some reinforcement for the C/PF. Signing McCullar would have allowed them to kick that decision down the road a bit.
However there would be a cost in signing McCullars. This way around (signing Ryan), the Knicks can sign another vet min on 24th February. If they had signed McCullars it would have meant there is enough money for a total of 120 days of vet min salary. Obviously that could all go to one person, but it could go to two people on 14th March - but then the Knicks would have to cut someone from the roster.
