Knicks still rank 9th in net rating against an average strength of schedule, which gives room for cautious optimism.

They've been really up and down so far. They need to find some consistency.

Honestly it has been one of the strangest starts to a season I can recall.

Our 4 wins were against opponents that looked mediocre to woeful.

We dip our toes into the idea of an offense that has plenty of ball movement, then retreat to stagnation.

We’ve had plenty of rest days (so no excuses there).

Obviously the rotation is incredibly short, which is my greatest pet peeve.

Cautiously optimistic is my natural position but I think those stats you quoted belie the truth of what’s going on.

Anyway, I said at the start of the season that I’d leave it until about game 20 to make stronger evaluations, so I’ll stick to that

Unfortunately I just don't see the defense improving until we get a rim protector back. I'd like them to continue building chemistry and decrease the stagnation we see sometimes. Expectations should continue to be low.
