4th quarter stats
ortg/drtg/net/reb%
this year: 109.9 (25th) / 122.6 (29th) / -13.6 (29th) / 48.7 (21st)
last year: 115.4 (12th) / 111.1 (7th) / +4.3 (4th) / 52.6 (1st)
that is a pretty massive drop off in all 4 categories.

furthermore...i know for certain that once this team gels completely- their defense will be better than last year and that especially includes the 4th quarter...

This is a subset of not having figured out/not having the personnel for the defense.

Biggest identity change is trading for a wing that hasn't played defense in years and playing KAT out of position at the 5.

We are much different than last year. Fourth Quarter has been abysmal. We are 9-7 and we don't even have the full squad. I'm not scared yet. The offense isn't a problem. We need to get our defense together. It's not a bad situation considering the roster we have been putting out there. We have won more games than we lost relying primarily on offense. We need our depth back.

I doubt that happens BEFORE Mitch returns though.

I think we see better play once Deuce and Precious are back. Mitch could be the final lynchpin but, any 2 of those three coming back helps a lot. IMO. Having all three and everyone healthy would be the ultimate goal for me. The defense we could put out there would HAVE TO be better than what we are seeing now.

Last years D with Mitch or IHart back there was lockdown post OG. It just was. No reason they cant get back to that when Mitch returns. With Precious it will help a bit too

Hmm, how could that possibly be explained…?

Terrible takes.
And
Randle will be a Knick again not a player of his archetype .
Thank you lord

This makes a ton of sense. If you look at some of our 10+ pt losses you'll see the same theme. All the starters are approaching 30+ mins by the end of the third. Thibs shortens the rotation to 6 guys in quite a few games which leads to the starters getting gassed. This then leads to lower effort on closeouts, screen coverage and in general rotation. Shots come up short etc. it's definitely something to monitor for the rest of the season for sure.

I’m not sure how meaningful these stats are because it’s a small sample size that includes a lot of blowouts and garbage time stats. I’m not saying they are meaningless just that idk if we can really derive much from this
