cam johnson is not possible unless you expand it to include core players.

I agree. I think they are betting on Mitch. His value is pretty low so, why bother trading him? If he can stay healthy for the year, what he brings to this team or his own value going up is a win/win. High risk/high reward move.
Will they trade Precious before finding that out? Not so sure. We have his bird rights but, I am unclear how that works for S&T this summer with the new apron rules.
Sims has drawn interest. Payne/Shamet could go. All are minis so I don't think we can aggregate them due to the new apron rules. Then we have the rookies. None of these guys make enough money to really wheel and deal for anything.
I don't see much to get excited over at all. We may sign Warren after February or possibly another vet mini. That and Mitch coming back will be the big mid season moves IMO. The only other thing I can think of is the McCullar kid coming back and being the steal of the draft but, how much stock can you put in that?

I think they have enough room under the 2nd apron to do a 2 for 1 (Sims plus minimum) deal and round out the roster after 2 weeks with a vet min signing. But overall, I tend to agree. Would love to pull together a 3 2nd rd picks for 4th year rookie scale guy who didn’t sign an extension (Lakers did this with Rui and Mavs with Grimes), but given the long term apron outlook this is probably a move that is to be made next summer.
We really don’t have enough asset wise to add to Mitch to get a guy who’s impact can match a healthy Mitch, who fills a major need on the roster.
I think the biggest lineup adjustments need to come from the head coach
Precious into the starting lineup and Hart to the bench.
Sims gets backup C minutes until Mitch is back.

Two rookies.

They have a bunch of young low salary guys. All the kinds of players Thibs won't play.

Only two players make the salary requirements under the apron rules. Both rookies.
Sims 2.097mil
Maxwell Lewis 1.891mil
Jalen Wilson 1.891mil

We cannot do two for one trades. We need the 14th regular salary and we can't sign anyone extra without going over the apron. Player for player dollar for dollar match trades only is my understanding of the situation. Then at the end of February we can add a vet mini prorated to fit under the cap.
