DID KG and PAUL PIERCE INADVERTENTLY SAVE OUR SEASON?
Not long after this pod popped Thibs suddenly started using the bench. Coincidence? Maybe but somehow someway the message got to Thibs that he's burning out the starters and it has to change.

Re: DID KG and PAUL PIERCE INADVERTENTLY SAVE OUR SEASON?
I'm over the early season lack of playing rookies. He didn't have his vets to play so he shortened the rotations. We were dead legging it and injuries were popping up with Jalen/KAT. OG was looking cooked, It was definitely catching up to them.
4/5 of the bench is healthy for a couple weeks now. Play them! No excuse.

Yes, all credit to Pierce and Garnett. Glad Thibs listens to them.

KG and Pierce are minutes police.
Also, this is a good insight into Thibs' psyche. I'm glad common sense has prevailed.

KG and Pierce aren't just talking out of their ass. They actually played under Thibs for 3 seasons. They know the man extremely well. Thibs was an assistant coach for the Celtics 2007 to 2010.

Yep they do. That's why they were bluntly honest while still saying that Thibs is a good coach.
I agree. Thibs is a good coach. But he's also hardheaded and doesn't pivot as quickly as I would like.
Either way, seems like he got the memo and now the Knicks are in striking distance of the Celtics!!

This may have been the tipping point. Two half of famers who were coached by Thibs calling him out in public had to have some effect. It was clear that those minutes were unsustainable and insane.

I hope so...I like Thibs and I think he has a lot to offer but -if you cant evolve then you will never reach your potential no matter how much success you already have. I root for Thibs and would love to see him get his ring as a head coach...

Let's see Thibs stick to this consistently.
Last 2 games have been blowouts.
Let's see how he handles a close game.

Did Thibs really have a choice? His stubborness was running this team into the ground.

Regardless, am glad that we are the ones that ended the PP and KG era in Boston.

At the very end, the conversation got relevant to what is going on now. Some believe we dont have a bench. But if you dont play them you will never know. I remember being so excited when we got Kolek. Felt like bagging the cute office chick. But I still havent seen what Kolek is made of. So this feels like I'm going 3 months plus and still not smashing.

Oh yes if there is one thing we should all know by now is Thibs is slow to change the rotation after the first few games of testing everyone out. We gone through this most the years Thibs has been here.
Also Thibs can run a 8-9 man rotation. He can’t do a 10 man rotation or more he legit struggles with substitutions with that many plays , and if no one is checking him he will slide to a 6-7 man rotation

Re: DID KG and PAUL PIERCE INADVERTENTLY SAVE OUR SEASON?
I'm sure it had some effect but "minutes police" has been a term that's been said over and over again at least since mid December. Knicks beat writers talk about it, even Knicks players have mentioned it in interviews so ya know Thibs is very well aware of his doings but it's never stopped him before. I honestly think the FO stepped in this time. This is the first time in decades the Knicks are legit contenders and the FO has given up every asset to create this team. They were no way in hell gonna sit back and let Thibs stubbornness ruin their chances.
Fire Thibs!

Yes they did.
As a minutes police officer, I'm thankful for the collaboration of several agencies in our mission to rein in that maniac.
Our co-operative efforts successfully brought an abrupt stop to Thibs' terrorist activities.

Re: DID KG and PAUL PIERCE INADVERTENTLY SAVE OUR SEASON?
Knicks were very close to a tipping point.
Mutliple Knicks knicked up including KAT. Legs and energy clearly suffering late in games. Thibs also probably hearing some level of griping behind the scenes either by the players, the coaching staff, front office or all 3.
I think he MAYBE he finally got to the point of humbling himself and saying I got to try something different.
Hopefully it continues. Tonight we will see if he continues to be more liberal in the rotations or reverts back to his old ways. I mean having KAT in late last game up by 30 was still really really dumb.

Its possible. And hopefully they keep the pressure on to continue to do so.

It actually sounds like they've been reading our board... They are echoing our complaints verbatim.
I have to tip my hat to them; they know ball.
