Why this assumption that the knicks will face the celtics?

Post#1 » by Nicnac » Thu Apr 10, 2025 6:23 pm

Thibs is a regular season coach. He puts all his eggs there for job security it seems.

And the pistons would be a bad match up. Young legs. Tough center and vets. I think it's 50/50 we get out of the first round with thibs, especially if we look ahead as if playing the celtics is a given. And we aren't that much better than the pistons 5 on 5

I mean say what you want about Thibs but the Knicks have only gotten eliminated in the first round once and that was with Randle. People claimed they were going to lose to Cleveland and they beat them pretty easily. They also claimed that the Knicks were going to lose to Philly last season. Now this year it’s the Pistons that’s going to supposedly eliminate them.

The Knicks will win the first round, fans will be on a high and say "Bring on Boston" and then we'll lose game 1 by a small margin and get blown out by them the rest of the series.

I really don’t think Detroit is that good. It’ll be interesting to see.

Not really worried about the Pistons outside of the potential of brawl or injury. They will probably wear us down. Knicks in 5 or 6, but we might finish the series out a starter.

Celtics are literally the only team in the league I worry about. I feel like we can handle anyone and everyone else. This assuming we are healthy. Mitch is going to the real playoff MVP.

Who’s their PG? I seem to recall that being a weak spot for them.

The thing the Pistons can do to us is put a guy like Thompson on Brunson and make his life hell. Refs choose to "let them play" we may see a disadvantage.

The team isn’t overlooking any first round matchups that’s a fan and media thing

Eh, they’ve all tried that. Brunson might have 1 or 2 bad games, the board will melt down, and then he’ll go back to being the same beast he’s been for the past few years

Pistons are last year’s Knicks. They out hustle you and play like Ruff Ryders. Meanwhile the Knicks are soft like a mushed sweet potatoe.

I saw Thompson lock up Tatum. His defense is legit and they have a whole team who can play help defense.
Still having Towns is a big advantage and Mitch can dominate the middle for 24 minutes a game.

Why are we worried about who we play in the playoffs when at best this is a 2nd round team? For those who are anti Thibs shouldn't you be more concerned about what puts him in the best position to be replaced?

I don't roll like that. It would soften the pain of losing though if it cost Thibs his job. So..win/win in the end. We can root for wins and hope for the best. If we lose and Thibs gets fired...we still win. I guess.
