OT: RIP Pope Francis

Post#1 » by Luv those Knicks » Mon Apr 21, 2025 1:56 pm

He passed away this morning after making a surprise appearance yesterday at Easter. His heath had been poor for some time.

Not sure what to say, other than, I liked a lot of the things he stood for. In my lifetime, he was my favorite Pope and he seemed like a genuinly good man and a kind man in a time when the world is getting colder and crueler.

Those are some pretty big shoes to fill for his follower, and (a pretty big hat too, hehe), though he actually didn't wear the hat, preferring a more humble look.

I think he's going to be a tough act to follow.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

I’m not Catholic or anything but he actually seemed like a nice guy so I’m sad to see it. Many people are saying JD Vance killed him using Foxdie big if true

I wasn't aware that they'd met just the day before.

People are having a field day with this one, Quotes lifted from twitter:

“ I don’t think JD Vance killed the Pope, I think meeting JD Vance probably drained the Pope’s will to live. It’s subtly different,”

“ Pope Francis survived a double pneumonia but not a five minutes meeting with JD Vance.”

I'm not Catholic either, but the pope is such a public figure that I tend to follow the news around him. I found the mystery of Pope John Paul I's death quite interesting. I don't think I believe that conspiracy theory, because people do die unexpectedly at that age. At least, it's not uncommon, but even not believing those rumors, I found them compelling. It was a little before my time, but it was referenced in Godfather III.

In this case, the Pope had been sick for so long, I think this is more about poking fun at JD Vance than any actual truth. I hope the next pope calls out Donald Trump on day one.

jD was looking to receive some sort of sacred gift from the Pope but instead got a Vatican tie from the Gift Shop. Pope didn’t like him at all.

I think that these religious leaders should be judged on how much they fight for the poor, for God’s green earth, and spreading peace around the world for all religions so that people don’t fight over which religion is better … which they are very prone to do.

There should be a UN of religious faiths from around the world.

Honestly he looked sick in so many of the recent photos I am not surprised. At least he made it through one more Easter.

Even catching a glimpse of JD Vance from across a crowded room will sap your will to live

The switchboards of suicide hotlines light up in every town JD Vance visits
