So I did start the other thread as a kinda catch all for the flack Thibs was getting fairly uniformly across the board re minutes, lack of bench development, and lack of inventiveness in in play calling.

I thought it would be more productive to have one space for those conversations, rather than every PG have 25% of the posts on it.

For my own part ,I do think the Knicks would be better making a change now in the head coach. I certainly would have been in favour of a radical option. However, with Boston assumably out of the way, perhaps something just a little better would work. Obviously the big conundrum is what to do about Kat/JB....but I assume that really means about KAT.

From the OG trade to Mikal and KAT
ESPN only heard about the trades until AFTER they were completed

shams is probably the most plugged in insider in the NBA at this point. anytime he opens his mouth to say anything about what he has heard, it's extremely credible.

guys like sham and formerly woj are generally "late" to announce leaks because they hear a million different things that aren't quite officially done yet and the last thing they want to do is announce that something happened on the off chance that it falls through at the last minute because it is in those moments they start to lose credibility.

Tbh, I can see how it comes about, but if JB is really having a significant input into who the HC should be and roster building that's bad. He comes across as a person big on personal relationships and standing by your people. That's admirable for the player who's the leader of the team. The GM needs to be much more ruthless.

100% and you'll probably start to see those sorts of threads more with bigger topics.

Awhile back an effort was made to clean up threads that were any little idea that popped into their heads and that begot the huge catchalls. The tide's pulling back at least a little from that high water mark so people can have the discussions they want to have.

I'm with you guys basically 100%.

I, personally, didn't find the last year or so too bad. I just let the people trolling one Jules and RJ do their thing and essentially usually ignore it.

However, the Knicks's comparative on court success, and proximity to the second apron, perhaps left less space for the GMing of realgm?

Maybe. There used to be a cap nerds thread and that might be needed more than ever. I've fallen off the wagon a bit with the new CBA. It's a bit of a knowledge gap.

Not that I'm an expert, but I think it is appreciably harder under the new CBA for moderately well informed, but not obsessive posters to discuss interesting GMing ideas. If the Knicks were in the position they were five years ago, under the cap or nearly, that is one thing. Now the options, both with the spending and the new CBA, either require much more inventiveness or are more limited.

Ridiculous that we want to trade star players instead of replacing this dinosaur. Any other top tier coach would have had us in the finals right now. As soon as we lost game 1, I knew deep down inside that we were doomed and this fossil just stood there with a grumpy face and watched it all unfold.

Exactly the conclusion I came to. I'm like, am I gonna obsess over this thing to learn it?

The answer was no. But I'd love to be like "hey nerds is this gonna work?" with an idea and get some feedback.

I essentially agree with this. But with the caveat that if Boston hadn't had an equally bad or worse coach the Knicks would have lost 4-1 or 4-2. Even with Tatum blowing his ACL. For me this iteration of the Knicks achieved what they should have. And a little variance pushed them one rung up the ladder.

Now obviously it's a short ladder. Up another two rungs and you're champions. However ..... I do think the Knicks need to replace Thibs .... and probably KAT, very good offensive player that he is.
