RealGM Knicks Forum Community Guidelines
Last updated: June 2025

The goal of this forum is simple: to be the sharpest, most respectful, and most passionate home for Knicks discussion on the internet.

To make that happen, we all have a part to play—moderators and posters alike.

What We Encourage

 • Takes with substance – Stats, reasoning, historical context, or lived fan perspective. Bring something to the table.
 • Respectful disagreement – Challenge ideas, not identities. A good debate sharpens the board.
 • Diverse voices – We welcome posters of all backgrounds and perspectives. Everyone should feel like they belong here.
 • Creativity and humor – Smart jokes, memes, and fun traditions are part of Knicks fandom. Just keep them on-topic and in good spirit.

What We Don’t Allow

1. Personal Attacks
Calling out posters instead of posts will not be tolerated.
This includes sarcasm meant to provoke, sustained digs, or “thread policing” other users.

Example: “You're always wrong, why are you even here?” → Not okay

2. Agenda Posting
If every post you make pushes the same negative narrative—regardless of context—you’re not contributing. You’re hijacking.

 • Posting the same critique across multiple threads or games
 • Refusing to acknowledge nuance or changed performance
 • Repeating disproven points to stir reaction

Example: “RJ is trash” in every game thread for months → Not a take, it’s spam

3. Derailing Threads
Going off-topic to litigate old arguments or vent about unrelated players or staff? Take it elsewhere.

 • Use megathreads or create new threads if needed
 • Game threads are for the game—keep it focused

4. Trolling, Baiting, or Low-Effort Posting
No one-line flames, no “LOL Knicks” drive-bys, and no pretending to argue in bad faith just for attention.

Example: “Knicks suck. Always have.” → Expect removal

5. Bigotry or Hate of Any Kind
This is non-negotiable.

No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or slurs—direct or implied.

If you post something that makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome, you will be removed.

We are serious about this. Humor, sarcasm, or “just asking questions” are not shields.

6. No Politics in Basketball Threads

We all have political opinions. This isn’t the place for them.

- Political debates, partisan takes, and social commentary not directly tied to Knicks basketball or NBA policy belong outside this board.
- Posts that derail threads into political territory—especially culture war or U.S. national politics—will be removed.

If you want to talk politics, visit the Current Affairs or Off-Topic boards.

Let’s keep basketball discussion focused on basketball.

7. How to Interact with Moderators

 • Respect the process. Moderators are volunteers. When you file a report, give them time to review it. Responses are rarely instant and may involve multiple mods, higher-level input, or team coordination behind the scenes.
 • Do not backseat moderate. Publicly calling out other posters, or the mod team, over unresolved issues only prolongs the moderation process and may violate board policy.
 • Avoid PM barrages. Flooding the mod inbox with accusatory or inflammatory messages wastes time and often discourages the very people working to resolve issues fairly.
 • File and walk away. If something crosses a line, report it and disengage. Don’t escalate with the offender. Don’t pile on. Let the mod team handle it.
 • We’re human too. Life doesn’t stop when mod duties are needed. Everyone here is doing this on their own time. We ask for basic respect when engaging with that reality.

If you need to blow off steam or vent about moderation itself, take it to Hamsterdam or Off-Topic where it won’t interfere with the basketball conversation.

Moderation Policy

 • First Offense: Warning or post removal
 • Second Offense: Temporary ban
 • Repeat Offenses: Forum ban (extended or permanent)

Moderators will err on the side of maintaining discussion quality, not micromanaging opinions.
If a thread or user starts dominating the board in a negative way, we will step in.

You are always welcome to respectfully message a moderator for clarification.

Help Us Help the Board

If you want a better forum, be part of it.

 • Model good posting
 • Don’t feed trolls
 • Use the Report button
 • Invite quiet posters back into the conversation

Together, we can keep this board sharp, fun, and uniquely Knicks.
We’re all here for the same reason: to believe in the team, and to belong to a community that gets it.

Let’s build it right.
