What picks do they have to give up anyway. Pick swaps are about all they have left.

I believe we have one FRP left we can trade

Seems like the Timberwolves are gaining steam to acquire Durant. Can we get in there to snag Divo?

that would be amazing fallout. but if they need cap relief, we can't provide it. we'd still have to be offering something they want more than retaining donte at that price point.

what would you suggest from our cupboard?

Salary wise it would have to be Mitch going out.

Only thing I can think of is Deuce + filler or Precious sign and trade + a pick.

for a single player. yeah. [edit: and i don't like that move. though i get the idea of hukporti and maybe a cheap signing stepping into the mitch role. but they wouldn't have his impact. he's elite at what he does. might as well use it for another season.]

could we not combine players? is that one of our apron stipulations or something?

Fury and others have mentioned deuce + kids/precious/s&t packages. my issue with those becomes what would minnesota value if they were trying to win?

Suns can't be involved in a S&T and they are the ones getting Divo in a trade from Minny. So we would have to compensate PHX. Maybe they would value deuce but you would the have to find a 4th team to take Precious who has cap space that would want him. I think that's basically impossible.

I don’t really see a use for Donte since Thibs is gone.

cohesion. toughness. no-conscience shooting,

i get the ideal value in a thibsian setup. but i see good in the nova reunion in other ways.

Don’t get me wrong he’s not a bad player, but it just seemed like he been pretty average without Thibs. His contract is pretty big too so we’d prob have to give up value players.

I would try to get someone like Sexton instead imo.

i don't know how fair it is to make thibs the defining factor in his performance as a knick. probably deserves some credit, but similarly there were also likely environmental factors -- like playing with guys he knows well.

so many times when the nova guys shared the court we watched them create opportunities with each other that looked a lot like how they'd played together in college. the familiarity seemed to matter.

I’m sure playing with Brunson and hart helped of course. But I think it’s a pretty big red flag that outside of his stint with the Knicks he has just been a very meh player. His playoff numbers outside of his Knick stint is pretty alarming. There’s even a possibility that that season was a fluke for him too.

I’d personally look somewhere else. I also think the Nova connection is pretty overrated too. But that’s another conversation

JVG you ought to play the lottery today - what are the chances you have exactly 30,111 posts and 30,111 and ones? astronomical if not rigged.

Funny thing is nobody expected the pistons pick to covert which had higher protections. Wizards not being a bottom 8 team next year probably requires some luck - but might be worth holding onto. As we've seen with the lottery anything can happen. They could finish 5th/6th worst team and have bad luck and fall down to 9th or something. Vice versa so they could finish 9 and move up. We never seem to get lucky in those scenarios (Mavs could have fallen from 10 to 11-14 but didn't)

Even then, 2 second rounders that are expected to be good ones have value and could be worth keeping also.

We can't do a sign n trade with Precious or something with fully non guaranteed money that they could just waive?

that's kinda what we did to match salaries in the mikal trade. but minnesota would need a reason to want that. as would the players in the s&t.

at some point precious will probably want an opportunity to get a long-term deal. i know i would.
