Will we win a championship in the Brunson era?

Post#1 » by FrozenEnvelope » Mon Jun 23, 2025 3:42 am

Curious how everyone is feeling after watching OKC win it all. Are we close? Or are we just reliving the 90s?

We had a shot the last two years and we’ll have a shot the next 3-4 years. I think we get to the finals once in that span and maybe we get lucky once there…

2% chance. And it only gets much worse after next year. Make a final in a weak East, get an injury to the West.

We got to see. Too early to tell but the Knicks got to be better than this year. Lowkey it was an underperforming season that only seems better than it was because they made a good playoff run.

we can but we have to be really smart this offseason particularly. we've made the climb, it's finals time. and if you're not lebron/curry, magic/bird, it's not very likely you get repeated shots at that

i still have my doubts about the brunson/kat pairing.

we dont want brunson to be our 1a guy because hes a point guard. but kat for damn sure is not a 1a guy. and they are both really bad on defense. I dont know if we can just add a player that gives us what we need. we might need to get off KAT imo.

our finals/championship run has to look like the pacers one. We need the new coach to really improve this team.
im bout dat action boss

Next year is our best chance. Indy, Bos are hurt. Milwaukee, too. Philly is finished. It should be us, Toronto, Cleveland and Orlando as top 4. Atlanta may be a dark horse.

We should be able to dominate the east this year.

So much depends on the new coach, if he gets the team flying out of the gate like Atkinson last season. And whatever tweaks to the roster.

The Window is now with this group. They are all in the 28-29-30 years old range and for a pro athletes, that is peak.

This year was perhaps our best chance- we were, with the exception of Robinson and JB’s tweaked ankle, exceeding healthy - like unreal healthy compared to the rest of the league.

If I am betting, I don’t think I could bet for similar luck/healthy next year.

Having seen OKC and Indy go at it for 7 games - I do think depth is going to be an issue - and it will be interesting to see what the FO does on the front.

I voted no on the Championship in the Brunson era - I totally see this sadly playing out like the Ewing Knicks where we just never got enough to get over the hump. The January 2024 Knicks had a shot. Too bad they all broke down at the same time at the end.

One difference is INJURIES play such a big part in things now. I could see, with typical Knicks' luck, getting to the finals and a version of the Hali injury happening to one of our key guys. It feels like it's almost a 50-50 chance these days.

Derrick Rose is really only Thibs' worst injury and Rose was always an injury waiting to hsopen because he never landed on teo feet.

We have the talent to do so

Lot of it is just gonna be luck, that's an underrated aspect of winning championships.

If we hire the right coach, it could be next season.

Toronto won't catch Detroit but they'll be better if healthy. Maybe play in team. Depending on Ingram and any moves this summer
