Reporter Palobo Torre who broke the kawhi Leonard and Clippers story about circumventing the salary cap to pay kawhi leonard 28$ million.

Hints that he might have a story about Jalen Brunson and Knicks doing the same thing with Jalen Brunson last contact where Jalen Brunson left 113$ million dollars on the table.

Don't care at all if it is true. Matter of fact, kinda hope it is.

My thoughts is you copypasted a thread from the General board from 2 weeks ago about random comment, that had no substance then, and dind't get any since.

I mentioned when the Brunson deal was signed that I didn't believe the narrative that he "left" money on the table, but instead got paid in "other ways."

Spoiler:

I still believe that and I think it's pretty common for most teams to find creative ways around the rules.

However, my gut tells me the KNICKS are smart enough to cover their tracks and that it'll be hard to prove any wrongdoing.

When a sports reporter starts trying to take down the sports he covers...it won't end well for him.

Hiring his father isn't a story. His father his HC and the GM were all friends. Nothing to see there. I'm gonna say Jalen wouldn't do anything like what Kawhi did but, you never know.

No, because the Knicks have Brunson his max extension. He was smart to take it because you never know what can happen in a year. Look at Isaiah Thomas

He took the $125 Million+ contract that was available at the moment. That's life changing money and the right decision for security

This article is from 2 weeks ago

Also, he isn't talking about the pay "cut", he specifically says "how Brunson arrived at the Knicks". He's talking about the tampering we did with Brunson's dad, which was already known about

And I'll say the same thing I said 2 weeks ago on the GB when this was circulating there. The Knicks having Brunson's father on the staff is in an entirely different world than Kawhi being paid under the table, and if you're gonna "investigate" that, you gotta "investigate" the Bucks for giving Thanasis a job

You'd need to prove Brunson was getting paid to do nothing like Kawhi was, or that the money he left on the table was going to his dad's salary, which would be easy enough to prove. But if you're conflating the two, giving up $100 million so your dad could have a job that pays at most like $3 million a year is just a dumb move.

I don't think Brunson would do anything illegal like that either that's not his character at all.

Right.

Per ESPN's reporting today, Leonard and his uncle asked for:

-demanded LA trade SGA for Paul George

-an ownership stake in the franchise

-private jet, helicopter

-fully paid house, guaranteed off court cash

-establish a strict protocol with Leonard and how to communicate with him

-Leonard can skip media obligations and community events

-fire Bruce Bowen from the Clippers broadcast team

-no show job

Etc.

If the most that happened is tampering (lol) and Rick Brunson getting paid to be an assistant, that is literally nothing compared to the literal North Jersey mob style requests made by Leonard and Uncle Dennis.

Either way, Adam Silver better clean up his litter box.

I'm a modern American with modern American views.

If a person or organization or political party that I'm not affiliated with does something untoward, I want them to be crushed with the full force of the law. Everything the state and society can bring to bear.

If it's a person or organization or political party that I like, it's no big deal. Nothing to see here.

So, clearly the Knicks and the Brunson family are as pure as the driven snow.

Even if there are other sponsors around the Knicks organization that use Brunson in media or appearances ...isn't that the point of being in the NY market? Big fan base, big market and companies want to use popular players to boost their brand, so we have to say this is wrong now?

The problem arises when there's a no show, do nothing job where the player can veto everything and anything then still get paid millions or tens of millions of dollars for nothing. This isn't the same thing as team affiliated sponsors paying popular players for services.

Of course, employing pops might raise flags...if he wasn't already on staff and been on previous Thibs staffs at other gigs. I think the 'colluding' to acquire him was already addressed and that seemed flimsy, as a free agent he can go where he wants for whatever reason.

I'm going to take a skeptical view of it until further notice...and what buzz said...driven snow biotches.

You think I would stop supporting Brunson and the Knicks based on this speculative story with no proof? Try harder.

And as a Knicks supporter from Hong Kong ruled by China, I would choose to be blindfolded even if you present the most blatant evidence in front of me.
