Josh Hart's injured finger a concern

Josh Hart’s surgically repaired finger remains a Knicks concern with few options:

The Knicks forward revealed Tuesday that re-aggravated his surgically-repaired ring finger on his right shooting hand, which likely means he’ll wear a splint this season before another procedure next summer.

Hart said he hopes the splint won’t disrupt his game, although the 30-year-old acknowledged uneasiness with the idea.

“I’m still trying to figure it out. Me, personally, I hate playing with anything on my hand,” said Hart, whose finger remains visibly swollen. “I don’t feel like I have a good feel for it. It might take a little getting used to, but that’s the best scenario for me right now and I want to be out there with these guys and I’m going to do everything I can to be out there with these guys.”

A much less appealing option is Hart getting so uncomfortable that he undergoes surgery sooner, shelving him during the season.

He wouldn’t rule that out but remains optimistic about playing through the discomfort.

What's the recovery time? If he can't play with a splint then he might as well get his finger fixed now.

This sucks because I wanted to see the team at 100% to start off the season

He should just focus on rebounding, passing, defense..since shooting isnt his strong point anyway...Im more concerned about KATS finger. Dude was still lights out from 3 even though it was hurting him...would be nice to see even better percentages with it fully healed.

I know he reportedly injured his finger in the playoffs but I didn't hear about him getting a procedure done until the middle of July. I wonder why he waited so long to get it done if he did. I don't know if it was one of those situations where they had to wait for the swelling to go down or would he have been better off getting it done right after the postseason to allow more time to rehab before ramping up for training camp.

Doesn’t make sense not to fix it now. Rather have him 100% after the All-Star break than have him 50% all season

Probably. But Shams doesn't have Knicks connections, so I'm not listening to him. If Malcom looks good, I do think it's a a forgone conclusion that Kolek is out.

Yikes

I honestly feel like this is our opportunity to unleash Deuce. We could still have a 10 man rotation even without Josh.

I dont know how that finger can get any better if he is getting hit or catching the ball

As well as getting whacked on the hand by defenders slapping at the ball etc.

We cant resolve the issue by simply forbidding shooting and let him focus on other stuff. Because come clutch time he will be wide open and he's gotta take the shot.

Same way Caruso, Gordon, Alexander Walker etc bad percentage but clutch players take it every time with confidence.

Have surgery tomorrow, come back later in season without need for splint.
