We won 50 and then 51 the last 2 years, I want to say it’ll be close to that again but you never know what injuries can happen. The east looks extra weak this year so we should have a soft schedule. I’ll say with moderate health maybe 54. I’ll be optimistic and hope we start to click soon and go with 54-28.

This season there are more "moving parts" with a new Coach, Hart's finger, Yabu's ?, and the previously mentioned injury wheel of fortune. (Am I alone in thinking there are WAY more injuries affecting the NFL and NBA than say 15 years ago? It's like it has skyrocketed!).

It’s an easier path to à high win total this season, but I don’t think Mike is as focused on regular season record as Thibs. I think we hit around the 53 win mark and rest our starters down the stretch.

Lol why did they hire Mike Brown.

Stupidest decision I've seen in awhile. They look way worse with him.

I think they learn their lesson and pace themselves for the playoffs.
Also the increased number of threes is leading to larger variance such that there will be some off nights.

I'm leaning 52-54, but injuries can obviously change that. This doesn't feel like a 60-win team with 3 sloppy road loses early.

Even if healthy, less than 52 wouldn't shock me.

Well, as I recall, he was like their 4th choice, so that was part of it.

I'm OK with giving Brown a chance before I judge him negatively.

Who's better, who's worse?

I think Milwaukee and Detroit are better. Chicago & Philly look better so far.

Cleveland, Boston & Indy are all worse.

I'm not sure how much weaker the East is overall, I mean, Boston & Cleveland were regular season monsters last year and Indy, despite only 50 wins, finished really strong too. So maybe the East is weaker, which leaves a path for more wins for NY. Time will tell.

agreed

Also, we are lucky with the lack of missed games from our core players. Last season, KAT only missed 10, OG missed 8, Josh missed 5, Mikal missed 0.

47 to 49 takes to account that it is wishful thinking to expect everyone to stay healthy.

I think it's the degree to which teams improved vs. worsened. The better teams are only marginally better due to growth among their younger players and improved health so far, while the worse teams are quite meaningfully worse after losing their best players (and the Magic - I think they just overachieved last season). No team in the East has transformationally improved.

The full list for me would be:

Better:
- Detroit, Atlanta, Raptors, Bucks, 6ers

Worse:
- Celtics, Pacers, Magic

Same:
- Cavs, Nets, Wiz, Hornets, Heat

I agree with you on how much worse teams like Boston are.

But didn't the Cavs lose some key players? Regular season (wins), Cavs should be quite a bit worse this year I think. Playoffs, maybe about the same.
