1 Trade to fix the Knicks

NY trades / Sacramento receives:
David Lee
Eddy Curry
Renaldo Balkman
Quentin Richardson
Malik Rose

Sacramento trades / NY receives:
Ron Artest
Brad Miller
Kenny Thomas
2010 First Round Pick

Why this trade works for the Knicks:
Ron Artest is the leader the Knicks need. He is an explosive scorer and defensive stopper. Miller would compliment Z-Bo better in the frontcourt than Curry. He is the best passing center in the game (which is important playing next to Zach!) and has a decent post game. Thomas is cap filler. Their new lineup:

PG...Marbury...Collins
SG...Crawford...Robinson
SF...Artest...Jones...Thomas
PF...Randolph...Jeffries
C...Miller...Morris...James

Why this trade works for the Kings:"
Curry's low post scoring would really open things up for Martin. Lee is the starting PF the Kings desperately need. Balkman and Richardson would be strong additions to the King's bench. Rose is cap filler. Their new lineup:

PG...Bibby...Douby
SG...Martin...Garcia
SF...Salmons...Balkman...Richardson
PF...Lee...Moore
C...Curry...Hawes

What do you think?

David Lee is a very good player, but let's face it...he is a backup on this team. The only way it makes sense to keep him is if Z-Bo is traded, which - at this point - seems unlikely. Balkman also is a good player, but he is a role player only. We already have Jeffries, a defensive role player who, while he doesn' bring the energy Balkman does, is also unmoveable.

Surely Artest is worth two backups?

Nope. Artest is not worth Lee and Balkman. Artest IS worth Balkman and some other young filler, but just because Sac feels he is a good citizen, doesn't mean they can name ridiculous prices for the guy.

Also I'd prefer Balkman as a backup and Lee starting anyday to Jared as a backup and Z-Bo starting.

Additionally, with Artest out for some time due to recent surgery and his soon to be FA status, why would anyone give up 2 very good youngsters. Especially for a team currently 8-22. A team where there are bigger issues at hand that need addressing WAAAAAAAY before the lack of production at SF. A team where there are already ego and additude issues at 4 of the 5 starting positions. Only NY fans would do this.

Ron Artest is the leader the Knicks need? You lost me at that point. No deal. Try again.

Balkman can go for the right package, but Lee IMO is untouchable.
Dude has a good mind, cares about winning, one of the best rebounders in the East, his offense is getting better year by year, you keep guys like him.

Randolph has to go first... Look at what Zeke sent to Portland, Frye and Francis, you really think he values Zach high?
