how could boston turn it around in one year

Post#1 » by jakoub » Sat Jan 5, 2008 1:08 am

but it makes nyk worse every year. If you were gm would you trade lee curry balk and nate for an allstar similar to to what boston did with kg. And would you follow that up by giving up a first rounder jones and chandler for a vet who can shoot like what boston did with ray allen. Then sign artest next year when he opts out.

pg marbs
sg? vet who can shoot
sf artest
pf randolph
c all star

can this get done or did the celtics just sell there soul to the devil.

Boston got lucky with their little Celtics GM frat. There is no other way a team can get both Ray Allen and Garnett in one season.

Derrick Rose,Marbury and Crawford 3 gaurd rotation is a start with Artest at SF

You keep Lee and Zach bring in a Shot Blocking Defensive Center.

Surround the bench with Shooters that Defend and Can Pass

KG & Ray are both complete players. Good passers, Good defenders (though Ray is perhaps an average defender these days)

Pierce is also complete, he can pass, drive, shoot and defend.

Nobody on the Knicks is as good as the worst of those 3. One of the KNicks problems is we never got (and still don't have) a paul pierce. A complete player, all star level, he's pretty close to a franchise player.

One player like that can't carry a team (as evidenced by Boston's many yucky seasons).

But 2 franchise players on 1 team (Pierce & KG) - that's usually enough to make a team good, and add Ray Allen and his outside shooting (and don't forget- Ray can pass, handle the ball, etc when needed) - that's a nasty trio.

I'd be willing to bet that if Isiah had landed KG & Ray in the off season, NY would be wining the division and if Boston had Zach, Boston would be below 500.

PG - Craw/Marbs
SG - Ray
SF - (err, uhm)
PF - KG
C - Eddy

I'd bet that team could win 50 plus games.

It was pretty easy for Ainge since he has McFail sucking in his c**c for years now.

Boston has a tiny window in which to compete, before descending into a Knick-like hell. In contrast, the Knicks are already in hell - thanks to Isiah. So I don't know if there's any lesson to be taken from this.

People keep forgetting that Al Jefferson is having as good a season as garnett

The big deal was the flashy piece, but you have to give Ainge his due in other elements here too. Tony Allen is playing well as is Kendrick Perkins. They are not playing all-star ball, but they are doing the necessary things to help the team win and help the big guns catch a rest once in a while.

Add Eddie House coming off the bench firing, and Rondo running the point fairly effectively, and you have a strong, albeit somewhat old, core and solid complementary players, most of which Ainge drafted. I think their window is only a few years, but they're well on their way to maximizing it.

They brought in high character hard working players, which is the exact opposite of the Isiah Thomas approach.

The mystique behind Garnett has a greater factor on the Celtics winning, then Al Jefferson did. Then, when you start to win, it has a snowball effect.

In a few seasons the Celtics will begin to do the slide that the Heat are going through now.

I wouldn't go that far. Al Jeff's stats are as good as KGs, but that doesn't mean he's as good a player. Wolves got worse, Celts got better.

Are you serious? Those guys have nothing to do with the team's reason for being this dominant. Any time you can put out a lineup where your 3 players are potential HOF, you are going to dominate!!!

Do you really think McHale was going to trade KG to the Knicks? For a package starting with Frye?

Well the last two years, KG with more vets on his team in Minny failed to make the playoffs... so I am not sure what your point is in regards to Jefferson and Randolph....
