Nice thread.

1994

D. Harper (Kirk Hinrich?)
J. Starks (Caron Butler?)
C. Smith (Who gives a shi.t)
C. Oakley (Boozer minus the scoring)
P. Ewing (Dwight Howard)

I guess I'm kinda close.

Dwight Howard will never posses the offensive or defensive game of Patrick Ewing.

Tim Duncan, maybe?

and I put Boozer up there because of his rebounding numbers.

It must have been pretty hard to average 20 blocks per game

ewing was older and howard still had more rebounds. (ewing was better. but it's not impossible howard will be better when all is said and done)

I might say Duncan offensively, but Ewing possessed a unique offensive game that no other big man in the NBA currently has.

Ewing averaged 24 a game in a time where defense was actually played in the NBA.

1999

Ewing (Alonzo Mourning pre-injury)
LJ (Boozer with a 3 point shot)
Spree (Ron Artest)
Houston (Brandon Roy)
Ward (Jameer Nelson)

Camby (Camby)

I think Howard is already a better defender than Ewing was in his prime. Dwight has loads of athleticism on Ewing. BUT, Howard will likely never approach Ewing's offense. I don't see Dwight ever developing much range. And that's just as well, coz' he should operate as close to the basket as he can.

Are you serious?

Ewing played in an entirely different era then Howard. Ewing played in an era where 5 out of the top 10 NBA centers played in.

Caron Butler doesn't play like Starks.....i would say...

Harper(Hinrich/Devin Harris/Derek Fisher)
Starks(Raja Bell/Ginobili)
Smith(Tim Thomas/Jeffries???)
C. Oakley(Kurt Thomas/Reggie Evans/Haslem)
P. Ewing(Chris Bosh)

I would say Harper is close to Derek Fisher. As well as Starks to Raja Bell. Smith to Tim Thomas and Oakley to Haslem is also pretty close. I would say Ewing had a much bigger body then Chris Bosh. Bosh doesn't have the weak side post moves that Ewing had.

Don't even compare Ewing with Dwight Howard. Ewing played against the greats. Howard plays in an era where there isn't any dominate centers to compete against. In todays game Ewing would average 16+rpg. Marcus Camby is averaging 14.4rpg at age 34, that should tell you a lot. Look at list of starting centers in today's leagues.. enuff said.

I believe a better comparison than D12 though....D12 offensive game is nowhere near Patrick's in his prime.

if Chris Bosh actually had muscle mass then he would be Ewing, unless Bosh has become the perimeter pussy i fear he will become eventually.
