Will Kings get better if Knicks acquire Artest on the cheap?

You know, the usual Isiah deal of dumpster diving with junk swap. You think, minus Artest, the Kings would suddenly become better?

well they're actually missing Artest for a while now, so see for yourself. Also, it depends what we send back. If Isiah does a **** job...yea.

Actually screw that, if Isiah send Lee, Balkman, and Collins and a first round pick, the Kings will be better.

yes, they have some amazing untapped youth on that squad. bibby and artest are only holding them back.

I remember reading this same sort of stuff last year except it revolved around how well Zack would be in a Knick uniform and Frye would be better on the West coast. Ron-Ron was also bantied about regularly in trade situations but considered to be too much of a head case to help the Knicks. Imagine Artest and Randolph on the same team?!! Knick fans would be candidates for AA by the end of the season.

The most unfortunate situation is that Knick management must be reading this forum and reacting to some of the most ridiculous trade scenarios which are regularly posted.

On the trade forum, I offered this deal which worked on the trade checker:

Knicks send: Zach Randolph, Fred Jones, Renaldo Balkman
Kings send: Ron Artest, Kenny Thomas, Shareef Abdur-Rahim

Personally, I think this is a fair deal for both sides.

For the price of Artest, we would be taking on two bad contracts (though one year less than Randolph) and they're getting a 20-10 guy who actually compliments their roster (a bunch of shooters and passers) as well as Balkman who could back-up Francisco Garcia at the 3. Thomas and Abdur-Rahim make just about as much as Randolph and the Kings are not getting production from either of the two right now.

If we get Artest, he'd likely stick with the Knicks since we could obviously give him an extension higher than anything he'd get in the open market. Artest could be the Knicks starting small forward for the next 5 seasons.

No, it is a stupid trade. You are sending out an expiring and Balkman for two bad contracts and a player (Artest) who will need to be re-signed to a long-term contract.

Why not wait until the off-season and set Artest's value then send that amount of expiring contract back for just him... like

Malik Rose (expiring) plus small filler for Artest.

I just doubt we are the only team competing for Artest's services. I expect the Knicks to have to outbid other teams in order to acquire Artest.

Yes, in the offseason, after we get the pick's #. That way we'll know which players to ship out to make the roster more balanced.

Only trades we should make now are those that clear cap space for 2009... Zach, Curry and Crawford for contracts with less years.
