"I know I won't find a more passionate person and a more committed person to do this than myself," Thomas said. "Sure, there could be smarter people. But in terms of the determination and a passion to make it right, I know I'm not going to find anyone out there who wants to do it more than I want to do it right now."

Because there's nothing I want more than a passionate fool to lead my favorite sports team!

Isiah Thomas talking to himself : I fired Don Chaney and had him escorted from the Garden by security the same day. I had talks with the Czar but left him in limbo while I was already finalizing Lenny Wilkens contract.
12 months later I wanted Lenny Wilkens gone since he wasn't happy with my players acquisitions, he agreed to resign. Then I promoted Herb Williams for the remainder of the season. As soon as the season ended, I had talks with other coaches and hired Larry Brown. After acquiring, in the off-season and before the deadline, players who were not typical Brown's players, quite the opposite in fact (Quentin Richardson, Nate Robinson, Eddy Curry, Jalen Rose, Steve Francis = 5 trades in 7 months), I succesfully put the blame on him and got him fired by my beloved and gullible owner Jimmy Dolan. Then I was asked to coach the team to prove I assembled a good team. I failed miserably showing to the whole league I mismanaged the team's assets and assembled a collection of garbage contracts nobody else wants to touch.
Now, after proving I was a mediocre GM and a bad coach, I guess no other coach will come to save my ass. Every good coach in this league knows that if he succeeds I will get credit as he will be asked to do what I want, and if he fails he knows he will be canned and the blame will be put on them just like I did with Wilkens and Brown. Anyway after compiling a record like 8-24 so far this season, if another coach comes in and make the team "respectable" with 30-35 wins at the end of the season, it will be too obvious I'm a terrible head coach who has no clue how to win games.
So now, after they saw how I treated Chaney, Wilkens and Brown, I guess I have to coach this team at least till the end of the season because no other proven head coach in this league is gonna want to work with me.
Hmm I can't say all that to the fans, how am I gonna spin this ?

Isiah Thomas to the press and the fans :

"I know I won't find a more passionate person and a more committed person to do this than myself," Thomas said. "Sure, there could be smarter people. But in terms of the determination and a passion to make it right, I know I'm not going to find anyone out there who wants to do it more than I want to do it right now."

lmao, my god what a genius Isiah is. He is the model for knowing how to screw your organization, your organization's supporters and sweet talk your way out of every situation. Isiah <3.

Smart is nice. I could live with smart.

Personally, from what I read this summer, I think there is already too much "passion" in that organization.

I truly feel I could step in and do a much better job as GM than Isiah, which says a lot. I'm not your typical foolish fan who is just saying that for the hell of it, I'm a very successful businessman who has started/sold/flourished in various internet businesses.

Mark Cuban, while annoying as hell has always been an inspiration. I'm by no means a billionaire, so I can't buy my own team but that sort of insane entrepreneurial spirit he brings to the table is something I have myself. It's all about doing an insane amount of research, hiring tons of data analysts and not just making a decision based upon passion and instinct.

That's what irks me so much about Isiah's IDIOTIC comment today about him not being the smartest man, but he has a lot of passion. It proved him, to any businessman, to be the WRONG person for the job. Passion and instinct are easy, they take no work. Combining and CONTROLLING your passion and instinct through preparation and just plain old business analysis and a team of good people is crucial for an organization that large. That comment alone should get him fired.

Isiah isn't running some one man show, MSG/The New York Knicks are a billion dollar company. To run the Knicks like it's some on the side one man internet site or game is just so idiotic. Also, it's obvious James Dolan has rode his father's coattails his entire life, but I'm also convinced that Charles Dolan merely put the right people in place on the Cablevision board, and surrounded his son with some of the best business minds in the world at Cablevision.

People should not give Dolan a pass as a genius billionaire, that was his father. The Knicks are 100% James Dolan, Cablevision is 1% James Dolan. Dolan is also a huge problem. Hopefully, Dolan loses interest while still retaining ownership and decides to hire a GM who can get things back on track. Isiah needs to be axed, and Dolan needs to bring in Jerry West. West may not have a great track record at Memphis, but he is a consummate professional who will help right the ship and get us moving in the right direction. Right now it's more than saving the team, it's saving the organization. The Knicks will never go away as long as the NBA exists, but they can become completely irrelevant if something isn't done soon.

It is clear, Dolan sees money comming in, doesn't care about wins....or losses... Isiah the GM will not stab Isiah the coach in the back and vice, versa....

Knicks fans are the ones to pay, we are the ones held hostage. Isiah admits he may not be the best man to fix this mess, but the most passionate.. LOL. of course he is, he has a vested interest in saving his own azz and what little reputation he has left...

I don't give a damn. I am looking forward to next year and the draft, and if dolan thinks he can mess with me any longer, I will start watching the nets when they move to brooklyn. As fan of this knicks team, a die hard fan of 25+ years, I will no longer be shat upon... Dolan can mess around, I will watch the nets. This situation is no longer sad, or funny, it is just downright tragic. And I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel...

have at it Isiah, you have a group of guys who have quit on you, yet your idea of fixing this mess, is shuffling this flawed lineup.. good job moron, keep rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, I am sure that will be time well spent...
