Yes, the management has disgraced the franchise in many ways, most notably the sexual harassment trial. However, the franchise is WAY too strong to be significantly tarnished by the sexual harassment trial. Most people realize the trial is attributable to management and not the franchise.
If there were an open market for valuations of franchises, the Knicks would be near the top. Also, If (when) Isiah Thomas is fired, the value of the franchise would skyrocket. This is much like fallen companies in the normal stock market. When there is a substantial company behind the crappy management, the company's stock skyrockets when the management is fired. The knicks are in a very similar situation. Everyone knows they are an amazing franchise, the management just sucks right now. That only hurts the franchise in the short term, not the long term.
Its amazing to me that the Knicks are still the most valuable NBA team despite the years of just being a below average team. Dolan is still making money but, we can talking about the product that they put for the fans. The product - the basketball games/coach/front office is one of the worst.
The Knicks are overpaying for talent and still aren't getting what they spent. It seems like the bad business moves that Dolan and IT have committed aren't making the Knicks head to bankruptcy.
