Yeah, I gues alot of people on this forum just don't understand just how good Pat was. He was an honest to goodness, authentic LEGEND.

there are not alot of players you can say that about.

When he was drafted everyone thought we were going to win 10 championships in a row b/c Pat was complete huge and ran like a deer.

That's why everyone is amazed he didn't win a championship.

that's why when people say they would choose Shaq over Pat or Kareem I just shake my head.
Shaq is amazing, don't get me wrong, but most people saw an older injured Ewing in the mid 90's who was still dominant but was more interested in winning than in stats.

I remember watching this live like it was yesterday...I remember the announcers TRASHING Rodman for the dirty play. As it went into commercial break, the announcer said "Shoulda been a foul..."

Wow. This brings back great memories.

sheesh, and that was late Ewing too. Post knee problems.

Get real people. Ewing didnt just slide into the top 50 of all time. hes way up there on that list.

the man was a superstar.

If he was in the league today hed totally dominate.

Imagine him on Yao, Howard and Amare. Ha! He'd do Yao like the Smits clone he is.

Interesting tidbit: That game was JVG's first home game as Knicks head coach. I remember Nellie just got fired, Jeff replaced him and coached his first game 2 days before this one. It was a loss in Cleveland. Then we came home, played that familiar beat-em-up New York defensive ball that Nellie tried to move away from and we DESTROYED the 72-10 Chicago Bulls by 32. One of the most memorable Knick games I have ever watched.

Exactly. In the 80s Ewing was a nasty athlete. He could have been even better if his knees wouldn't have been shot. But it's a great job on his part that he still managed to be a dominating force, even without his athletisism. Something that most of today's stars would never be able to do...

If you were the ref, would you have called it?

HELL NO!

Even if you weren't a Knick fan, you wouldn't call it because it wasn't that clear of a travel. And he's a superstar.

Goose bumps my man, goose bumps...

God I wish our now Knicks would play with just a semblence of that man's passion.

I think another poster hit it right on the head about KG, as the reason he loves how he plays, because he plays with the same intensity/passion as our beloved big fella.

Ewing's first basket as a Knick was a putback one handed dunk.
