The Darius Miles Trade

Post#1 » by arenas809 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 3:11 pm

Thank God this didn't happen...

Knicks Trade:
Jalen Rose
David Lee
1st Round Draft Pick

Blazers Trade:
Darius Miles
Theo Ratliff

A Paul Allen favorite, Miles would never have been re-signed by the Blazers had the owner not overruled the front office of Steve Patterson and John Nash on a deal (including Theo Ratliff) to the Knicks during Larry Brown's glory year. Isiah Thomas had signed off on Jalen Rose, David Lee and, yipes, a No. 1 pick.

Please, please, please Portland...just buyout Miles. That way Isiah Thomas can sign him and we won't have to risk Thomas giving up anything of value for him in a trade.

It came from Pete Vecsey in today's NY Post.

I read it too, it's at the end of an arcticle about Amare and the Suns 'defense. Also mentioned were teams that could have interest in JKidd and I was shocked when he named the Suns. But yeah, that Miles/Ratliff for Lee/Rose's expiring AND a #1 shocked me.

You'd think Zeke knowing he has had draft success would preclude himfrom dealing so many picks  :noway:

So now we believe Vecsey????

LOL

I am going to need someone a little more reputable to confirm this rumor before I get too excited.

I do take what he says over ANYTHING Mitch Lawrence says. I will say that Vescey was the first and ONLY reporter that said Sprewell was coming to the Knicks all during the '99 strike while noone else gave it merit or reported the rumor.

Just to discredit for sake of discrediting is rather ridiculous.

The rumor is actually believable, if he had said Isiah was ready to use that package for Lebron James, then that doesn't make sense.

I'm sure Vescey has better things to do than make up rumors from 3 years ago.

I still wish the Kurt Thomas for Gooden trade would have happened.

I dont even see how we could have offered this trade. We had already given the 2006 pick to Chi {Thomas} and that was the year that they were talking about. Beyond that we couldnt give the 2008 cause you cant trade consecutive years and then we couldnt trade the 2009 because the 2010 is guaranteed to Utah in the marbruy deal so...

basically it sounds like BS to me. Besides when has Isiah ever given a hint that he might trade lee? Hes always been considered relatively untouchable

Remember that it was reported that we gave the rights to swap picks with the Bulls because he wouldn't add Lee to the package for Curry.

right, but we couldnt have sent the swapped pick because you need at least 1 pick every 2 yrs.

This is why I don't buy this rumor. If he was willing to trade picks instead of sending Lee for Curry, why would he be willing to send a pick and Lee for Miles and Ratliff??? It doesn't add up based on his actions.

exactly.

I think the personal animosity between the press and the team has reached heights previously unimagined in making sh$& up.

there is the article about Curry's # for example. All it is is a recap of offensive jokes or comments about the squad from talk shows or opposing players. There is nothing there. just an a opportunity to attack the team. Thats sports writing? kick 'em when they are down and make $h@% up?

That's why the only guy I read is Hahn. He criticizes the team but it's always about basketball and his points are supported by him so that even if you don't agree you can see where he is coming from.

The Knicks are getting into a nice little rhythmn and now here come the trade rumors from a couple years ago. How silly is this to bring it up now? Next thing you know they'll have stories about how msg was bugging larry brown's house to make sure he didn't try to make trades from home.......Wait a minute......that happened too.
