OT-How great was the Giants last draft?

Post#1 » by LightsOut514 » Mon Feb 4, 2008 5:44 am

Just was thinking about this and felt the need to point it out, for the most part all of them were huge in this game....

1st Round: Aaron Ross, great corner, had a great postseason, Patriots weren't even throwing his way tonight for the most part

2nd Round: Steve Smith, great posession receiver, made a big catch on Giants last drive to get a first down and also got out of bounds. Very smart for a rookie, has been great all playoffs

3rd Round: Jay Alford, HUGE sack of Brady on 2nd and long with like 20 seconds left in the game. Enormous play. A definite keeper at DT

4th Round: Zack DiOssie, big tackle on the last kickoff of the game when we kicked it long rather than squibbing. Important special teams player.

5th Round: Kevin Boss, HUGE catch in the 4th quarter, very solid tight end who blocks well and occasionally makes a catch, great value player (BTW, See ya Jeremy )

6th Round: Adam Koets, still a backup for now.

7th Round: Ahmad Bradshaw. Obvious. This guy is great and just electric with the ball. Has been a tremendous addition to the team since starting to get more carries late in the year.

All in all, amazing job by the new GM to identify all of these talents. We couldn't have won tonight without them IMO.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!

The rookies had also helped make this more of a David vs Goliath event. A bunch of rookies, even the ones in the lower rounds where people usually always get cut, played a big part in dismantling an 18-0 team in the biggest stage of them all. This was a magical moment in sports, perhaps greatest upset in all of sports (is this wrong?), considering that it would have been folly to put the Giants as contenders at the start of the season.

It just goes to show how beneficial the draft could be, and it is something that I wish Isiah could learn. The Knicks should play their rookies (especially when down 14-33) just like the Giants were playing their rookies...and look how well giving the Giants rookies some time to play has ended up for the Giants.

Fantastic draft. Don't forget Michael Johnson either.

We should deal Shockey for a first or high second.

Shockey will come in next year, shut his mouth and run his routes. Count on it.

But he wasn't the GM when they won the chip. He was the Assisstant Director of Personnel or something lkie that. He became the GM after the Championship game. It's all Jerry Reese baby.

Why would we deal Shockey, hes quite possibly the best TE in the league and will be back next season, with Boss as the second TE, it will be a great 1-2 punch, with Boss being a good blocker and Shockey being a great reciever and good blocker, not to mention Shock plays out of the slot alot too. I dont see where the hate for Shockey has come from, he plays with such passion and we were winning when he was on the field too, I could see if we sucked for the majority of the season but we were good with shock and then got hot, had nothing to do with him not playing though and I think its ridiculous to think otherwise.

That is quite a nasty draft in hindsight.

to be technical....Aaron Ross was covering Wes Welker half the time he caught the ball so he didnt have the greatest game, but he has been solid all season long!
