Our Next Target...

Post#1 » by Retired Jersey » Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:56 pm

Rasheed Wallace

He is a PF who is skilled and that's what D'Antoni covets. Wallace can shoot the ball with range out to the 3pt line. He can also post-up with that patented turnaround jumper of his. He is a great post-defender and a locker-room leader. He also blocks shots and last but not least...he's an expiring contract.

Look for us to offer detroit Zach Randolph, David Lee and Renaldo Balkman for Rasheed Wallace and filler. Depending on what Dumars counter-offers, Malik Rose could be included in the deal.

Walsh and D'Antoni know it will be toughest getting a point guard. They have a motivated Marbury (playing for a contract and out to prove Isiah wrong). They know he will come to camp in shape this year. They can easily let him play out his deal and walk at years end...or if something attractive pops up at the deadline, deal him. The plan is to bring in Gallinari along with Wallace, two big frontcourt players over 6'10" who can set screens and pick 'n' pop/roll with Marbury. They also open up the floor for Curry with their shooting. The concern is there may not be enough rebounding left with a Curry, Gallinari, Wallace frontcourt (all mediocre rebounders). D'Antoni could do his traditonal run and gun once he gets his point guard.

Why? Are we going for a champiuonship in 2 years? No. What's the point. Detroit is targeting players like Anthony, B.Davis for someone like Wallace. We got nothing.

Cap space while remaining competitve is the mandate.

We will not get Wallace. Besides, with him on our team we will have our starting 5 behind the 3 point line 65% of the game.

Shaun Livingston would be a very good young option. He plays good D, and was one of the best young players in the league before his injury

Our next targets will be in free-agency....They have their sights on Monta Ellis first and foremost! And I get a feeling they will get him....It will be complicated and it will take a third team to do it, but that is the target, I am totally convinced of that....Memphis will somehow be involved in it too

Yea I think theres a glut of PG's available now..especially in Memphis..no way they're gonna be playing some of their PG's as SG's (Conley, Lowry, Crittenton)..the former 2 should be available
Wondering how much it would cost to get Udrih..he played very well last yr but im sure there'll be a fight for him as other teams are interested in him..
Even if we keep Marbury i think it would be advantageous to get a guy now that we could groom..we need a new floor leader

we need to make a play for lowry
Curry plus malik plus we will pay malik deal and pay curry's option if he picks it up in 2 seasons for Lowery and their 1st next yr
resign morris and let him hold the spot til next season and we draft a c and a sg then....
lowry may not be the best passer but he plays defense knows how to run and has played in the league.
