O.T.: Pop-Up Virus Remover?

Post#1 » by next2spike » Fri Apr 10, 2009 4:05 am

I think I have a virus. I run AVG Anti-Virus Free. The problem is, after about 15 minutes, I get a pop up, even when I'm not online. But right now, I'm getting no pop-ups, and it's been 30 minutes. Do I have a virus? What programs do you guys use? Any suggestions? I had a virus like this before, but the pop ups came every 5 minutes ALL the time. Thanks.

Or CCleaner freeware from the web.

Really should only use Symantec Norton Antivirus Home Edition

Kaspersky is the truth.

Picks up everything and I have had no false positives.

system restore is not always an option..for example in my pc it had not created a restore point so I was stuck with a bunch of spywares and I could not do anything....I download everything and it didn't work...Ccleaner and spybot helped slow down but it seemed to be some heavy spyware that my system caught after running ComboFix, everything was good and running well....Combofix is good cause it restarts your system files to how they where when you first installed your computer..

i'm runnning avast! virus cleaner to see if I have a virus. I also downloaded avast! home edition anti virus. I'll download what you guys said. I rebooted my laptop last time when this happened but i'm trying to avoid that because I don't want to lose my bookmarks and my ipod songs.

it does not deleted those files....just files that have been installed by a malacious spyware and it restores the system file to its original form....

If you want to play it safe run ccleaner and the spybot on safe mode..then logg in again..if the virus and spyware still there...run ComboFix....back up your data if you want to be safe but these programs should not deleted any .mp3s, etc..

no problem....Good Luck...Also be careful with some of those other programs that you installed(excluding Ccleaner & SpyBot) as some might contain spywares..

here is a link to get ComboFix and to read about the program...

Generally Spyware is Profile specific

You could also back your data up to a local folder on the hard drive. Create another Account/Profile and then delete the old Account/Profile. Log in under the new Account/Profile.
