Wiretap: David Lee Wants $10M Per Season?

David Lee, who will be a restricted free agent this summer, could reportedly ask for $10 million annually.

The Knicks will be in a tough spot, having to decide what to do with both Lee and Nate Robinson, who will also be a restricted free agent.

"A player can be a good player at one number and not a good player at another number," team president Donnie Walsh said.

Roderick Boone wrote in a piece for Newsday that "there's whispers that Lee might try to command $10 million."

Thats says to me, if he ask for 10$ mill
we will let him walk. No matter what the situation.

Simple as that, no need to argue about it.
PLus lee cant play D to save him life.

That was the number floating around before the season started. While it's never been confirmed that he will be going for that, if I'm him I start there for sure. On that note its a perfect time to bump an old thread.

Yeah I expected him to start out somewhere around there.. but Bif there's a 10M deal out there this summer for a pf it's going to Boozer. Lee will be lucky to get 8M per year if he wants a long term deal this summer.

I dont understand the hate that David Lee gets from Knick fans. You guys are all boasting about 2010: how you can add two big time players. Why do that when you guys have David Lee? This kid has good potential, and his numbers have been improving. He's still young, so why not re-sign him then come 2010 try to sign another big free agent (Lebron, Joe Johnson, etc).

lee is good as a bench player and getting paid 4-5 mill a year ... lee is horrified as a starter and getting paid 9-10 mil a year.

wow...look at how this article is constructed. talk about taking **** out of context....lee never said he wants 10m and walsh never said that comment regarding lee. WTF.

not that i care...if its true lee might as well start packing. lee ur cool and all but we cant be signing supplemental parts before a star.

its like having dessert before the main course. pretty stupid.

$10M was indeed the number reported when Donnie Walsh had discussion with his agent about an extension. It was also reported Donnie was upset by Lee's agent demands, he decided to end the discussions, let Lee become a restricted FA and let the market decide his value.

Nothing new.
