Two-Way Contract Possibilities

Post#1 » by Knightro » Mon Jul 18, 2022 2:38 am

The Magic have not yet signed anyone to a two-way contract for 2022-2023. It is somewhat expected based on the fact they tendered him a qualifying offer that Admiral Schofield will get one of the two-ways.

Here's how some of the other possible candidates fared in the Summer League...

Tommy Kuhse
6'2", 185 lbs, 24 years old
23.2 MPG, 17.3 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 3.3 APG, 3.0 SPG, 0.0 BPG, 2.7 TOV, .583 FG (21-36), .400 3PT (6-15), 1.000 FT (4-4)

Zavier Simpson
22.6 MPG, 10.0 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 6.2 APG, 2.0 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.4 TOV, .357 FG (15-42), .286 3PT (2-7), .600 FT (9-15)
174 career NBA minutes

Justin James
6'7", 190 lbs, 25 years old
18.0 MPG, 13.0 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 0.4 APG, 0.2 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 1.0 TOV, .478 FG (22-46), .400 3PT (6-18), .833 FT (15-18)
542 career NBA minutes

Emanuel Terry
6'9", 220 lbs, 25 years old
23.0 MPG, 7.0 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 0.2 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.4 BPG, 1.0 TOV, .458 FG (11-24), .500 3PT (2-4), .555 FT (11-20)
41 career NBA minutes

Is it possible to sign someone who played in another SL team right? Well i want a better 3rd PG just in case.

Was thinking of that Collin guy in DEN team who played in Nova. I wad also impressed by Jack White but they signed him already.

James and Kuhse for me please. Both would be third stringer who we saw are capable of putting the ball into the basketball. Even if it was just Summer League.

I really hope this thread becomes irrelevant...last year it was very prominent as we watched open walk-on tryouts during NBA regular season games.

I like Cannady well enough for insurance...wouldn't he be a frontrunner?

Then I'd rather sign the the scrubs we saw perform in other teams rather than the scrubs we saw in ours.

Can't the front office hold out on signing 2 way contracts until later on in the season in case of injuries piling up in the same positions for a bit more depth in an emergency?

The Admiral will be part of this conversation. Indeed Schofield plays at the position Orlando is most probably to end depth at.

Yes. AND 2-way players can be waived to free up the slot.

Most of this discussion thread is "Our next Lakeland Magic"

Players like Emanuel Terry and Justin James are a dime a dozen and are clear G-leaguers. Still: these could be late-season call ups on 10-day deals.
