Is anyone else not really that excited for this season after all that the team has been through?

It's already shaping up to be more of the same. The team's biggest financial investments are Isaac and Fultz, and, shocker, they both start the season on the injured list...again...

If they give indication that they are holding out players and tanking again, I hope the entire fan base tunes out. If they're one of the worst teams in the league again this year that will happen anyway.

You could argue three of the five starters are starting the season in street clothes -- Fultz, Harris and Isaac (starter before entering witness protection program). Now they miss 2 of the first 3 days of camp because of a storm. They're constantly fighting with one arm tied behind their back.

You have to keep things in perspective: we are really young and we can't shoot so that's a recipe for a bad team and lots of losses. But at least I'm seeing light down the tunnel with Banchero and Wagner. They will keep things more interesting than years past.

I’m not sure how you couldn’t be excited to see what Banchero and Wagner can do, and help the team do. To me they both have a high floor. Then when you consider we’ve got guys who have previously underperformed (relative to expectations), we’ve still got a few lottery tickets of potential on top of that.

Wins won’t matter to me this year, but team play and player growth will.

I really am excited for Franz and PB and Suggs but more than a little disappointed that we haven’t made moves to improve shooting around them. It’s not skipping steps to put them in a position to suit their strengths…it’s like drafting Troy Aikman and watching him get smashed because his offensive line sucks…then, you question if he’s a good QB. Hopefully, Harris, Houston, and even Bamba give them enough.

Aikman went on to be a HOFer and Super Bowl champ but he could just as easily have washed out with injuries or lack of development.

We brought back Harris, Bamba and Bol which are our best shooters. Regarding starting 5 Harris could be solid option, Carter should be one of the better shooting centers. Who better could we trade for ? DM is not great shooter, Brogdon is similar to Harris, Bogdanovic and Porter wouldnt start on our team. Durant was not available. What am i missing ?
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

We know we need shooting around them, but we need to see Banchero play to know what type of caliber 2 (or even 1) we need to look for. If Paolo is someone who looks like they could handle being a #1 option, we can go find a sniper to slot in. If he doesn’t, we may look at signing or trading for a #1 option who can also shoot the 3.

I find it so interesting that no one seems to be mentioning Coach Mosley at all.

I thought he was fine last year, but that was more about motivation and support than Xs and Os. I also thought that Vaughn was good too after Year 1 but it turns out he was more of a cheerleader than a tactician. The jury is still out on Mos for that as well. It is pretty easy to see how a good to great game coach can elevate a team, especially a young one (see Grizz).

So I’ll be watching Mosley this year as well to see if he has the game coaching chops as well.

I don't think we can fairly judge Mosley as a coach until the organization has shifted from development to clearly trying to win, which IMO they are not doing this year.

While I agree for the most part, seeing how we have so much roster stability I’d like to see a little more on court sophistication from our offensive and defensive schemes in Year 2, as well as a little more holding players accountable for mistakes or freelancing (e.g., Cole) but taking away some playing time. Can Mos find the balance between carrot and stick or is he all carrot but no teaching (eg Vaughn)?

There is no question this will be an asset evaluation year, after which the FO will have to make decisions.

I believe Fultz and Isaac will be available at season's start. How long they last is another thing .

So with a full deck the coach is going to have to rotate what is quite a deep squad with no stars but no real bums either.

They're also going to be trying much harder to win, players and coaches alike.

So there's plenty there to be interested in. Excited? Well, excitement implies anticipation for something above expectation. I don't think it's going to be that kind of season, but personally i think it'll be fascinating.

we had 18th defense last year, with all those injuries and young guys and basically tanking.

10-12 def since january.

guys at the end of the year were still fighting and the spirit was good, despite 22 wins.

idk what he had to do more,Xs and Os in that(and maybe still in this)situation??

give him a decent built roster and then we can talk about his job.

I'm just happy we're finally only seven years away from our first championship.

More excited for this season than the last few because of Banchero and Wagner. Excited to see if Suggs can have a sophomore breakout season and get back on track, and Fultz I think will be really good once he recovers from his toe fracture. Have really high hopes for him this season. Isaac I could care less about.

This is the most excited I have been for the start of a season in quite some time. We have the #1 pick coming in and the growth of Franz and others to look forward to. If you can’t get up for that then maybe give golf a try?

Last two #1 picks we drafted led us to the finals. And they were both manchildren. We just drafted another one. History is repeating itself. Which both means we will be going to the finals in the next few years, and Paolo will be going to the Lakers shortly after.
