As if even the healthiest JI playing at his best would move the needle. And even if he looked like "mini" Giannis out there, it's so early in the season - If we want the top odds in the 2023 lottery, we just have to stay under 24 wins. Give him a fake injury later in the season for a long offseason.

Occums razor says JI just might not be the basketball player he used to be after a 2 year hiatus and 3+ major injuries.
I don't think his hamstring was a major injury. I feel like his knee injury was a continuation of his first knee injury.

I'm thinking his ankle injury and then his second ankle injury and then his back injury and then his knee injury. We probably should be able to include his hamstring injury since it apparently kept him out of 30% of the season last year and now the start of the season this year (so... 3 months of basketball, 10 months total).

I'm confident Isaac will not just return, but will be DOMINANT when he does.

Combine his return with a playmaking Fultz and we will be singing zippidee doo dah, zippidee ay!

I'm really warming to the idea of him coming off the bench to just wreak defensive havoc at key moments w/key matchups. Limited but meaningful minutes at whatever frontcourt spot he is needed (for that game). Perhaps by the end of the season, he will be too good to keep on the bench and, with a healthy report card, could be a key piece of a big trade.

I'm hoping for the best and looking forward to his fit. I remember a truly impactful player.

He’s not coming back and I wouldn’t be surprised to find out his contract is insured. Meaning the Magic aren’t actually paying his entire salary, most of it is coming from an insurance payout.

NBA players don’t sit out this long. He ain’t coming back.

Wow after the "not picking up Suggs' option" hot take, we've got "Isaac secretly already retired"? :noway:

You have to wonder if a licensed medical doctor would sign off on clearing him to play after this many injuries and this long away. I envision a lengthy and detailed liability waiver signed by Isaac.

That was already part of his contract. No worries.
(( he also does not have the usual NBA insurance deal ))

Frankly, Isaac is more likely to get paid by not playing than by playing. So why rush this - financially?
