Bol continues a statistical argument that he cannot be benched. What is the Magic going to do with him ?!?!??!?!

Does your statistical argument considers turnovers and free path to the rim ?
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Bol's game is full of warts. But if we basically consider him a rookie, then we can see that he is a legitimate offensive threat. He sets good screens and is a great efficiency shooter. Those are two NBA skills he can build a career off of.
But if his defense does not get a lot better, then he is a career backup.

But it's not. It's his 4th nba season. He didn't play due injuries but also because he wasn't good enough to help Denver.
Main issue with his defense isn't lack of experience but lack of latheral quickness to stay in front of players who have lower center of gravity and can shift directions fast.
That's why you don't see 7 footers at PF any more like it was case in 1990s. Average size for a PF today is 6'9 , 230 pounds, with 36 inch vertical. Again, this is average. Witch means at least portion of players he is tasked to guard are much shorter and what bothers him even more- way more athletic.
Evan Mobley is good example of player who looks okey at PF, but actually all his numbers go up at C because he is 7 footer and it's more natural for him to take full adventage of shorter space he needs to cover, where at PF he is chasing guys off screens.

Look. I am thrilled Bol is an actual top-300 player. But his offense hides the reality that he is not a top 150 player (i.e. he should not be starting in the NBA).

I mean, he is talented, his offense is awkward but effective, it's just defensive side that is rather very poor.
I don't hold that against him to, being 7'2 will probably mean your mobility is very poor, that's normal (that's why Victor is viewed as such an unique prospect, because he is very tall but moves incredible for a size).
before Giannis ( hell, his nickname is freak becaue of it) , perfect size for "perfect nba player" was 6'7-6'8, where player is tall enough to not be dwrafed and in same time he can carry enough muscle and weight and keep his mobility & athletiscm.

As this is the game thread, back to the game: it is almost comical that only Ross and Bol had effective scoring outputs. Man did the rest of the roster throw out a poo-poo platter of an offensive performance.
F-Wagner cannot play SG. This mans that Bol must be necked and a real SG must start sliding Wagner to the SF-role he needs to focus on. Management: stop wasting F-Wagner's development by lacing him as a guard. Nothing good comes from this!
p.s. Schofield was the third leading Magician scorer in this game. No one should feel good about that!

I told you back when season started that there is apsolutley zero need to see 6'10 Franz at SG to know he can't play one.
At some point your lineup needs to be at least somewhat "traditional" to work. And we see why.
Magic bring jumbo lineups and not only that they can't defend, and are by default slower but also can't rebound well enough because smaller teams react quicker , due 3 point shooting, rebounds tend to be "long" so ball is bouncing all over the place and somebody who is 6'7 will probably relocate himself way faster than 7 footer will.
It's still how to excuse Banchero and Franz from their horrid rebounding numbers. Especially Banchero.

With Ross and Anthony healthy, there is no more excuse to start Franz at SG. These long lineups are ridiculously ineffective, and if the rebounding is getting worse then what is the point?
