For me it's Dennis Scott. I was living in Orlando when the Magic came along and back then they did a lot of promo stuff around the city. Dennis taught me how to shoot at a clinic once and he was so damn nice to everyone.

Darrell Armstrong. Heart and Hustle Magic were one of my favorite teams to watch.

I'm sure it's partly due to my own age at the time, all the bs aside - Shaq

JJ. I just loved the way he developed his game over the seasons. Smart player. Funnily enough I wasn't at fan at all during his Duke days, but that was probably more due to my friend frothing him way too much at the time.
T-Mac was the other, for the obvious reasons. So good to watch. I remember the off the backboard dunk during the ASG, sneaking out of class with my mates to watch that game, was fantastic.
Shaq and Penny got me into the Magic as I began to follow and play bball as a kid, but I don't think I really had a fave player on the Magic at that point, in fact I think I was infatuated with Gary Payton through most of those years.

Penny, as a youngster getting into the game his combination of length, speed, shooting, the flashy passing and outrageous moves (that inside spin middy jumper is still an all time favorite shot), the cool shoes. Don't think anyone will come close to me as a favorite player, especially now as an older, more jaded adult haha
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

As a kid it was Nick Anderson, but I loved watching Shaq and Penny, and later T Mac, i didn't have as much of an attachment to the Dwight years, or the Oladipo/Gordon/Vuc period, the latter i felt like we always just missed out (on the draft). This team though is special, i love all these kids. I am hoping my favorite player from this Magic era ends up being a guard....may as well make that Scoot...but I'd be perfectly happy if Suggs turns into that player, the effort is there

Re: Who was/is your favorite Magic player and why?
Penny and shaq started it for me as a kid and tmac was so fun to watch and brag about in school to the Paul Pierce loving Celtics up here in New England. D12, sweet lew, turk, and jammer are all deserving of magic fandom as well. I'm excited about adding Paulo and Franz to the mix and who knows who else with this group-will any of fultz, suggs, JI, and WCJR have lasting magic careers? Hopefully!
As for absolute favorites man that's a tough one. Guess I kinda always liked underdogs a bit. Loved JJ for the tireless work to even crack the rotation and then to have a lengthy meaningful career. But mostly I love the hustle and defensive players. Bo outlaw, Darrell Armstrong, Horace Grant come to mind. Pietrus. Pietrus. Pietrus. He was fun to watch. The 1 I'm most p***** about still was giving up on ariza so early. And I like Chuma a lot as well. Pietrus, Ariza and Chuma are probably my top 3 guys and I can't really explain it other than I really enjoy the defense they play.

Re: Who was/is your favorite Magic player and why?
Shaq for me. He was the most genuine player I have run into. Back when he got drafted, I was 21 and went to the first home game he played in while he scored like crazy and the arena was electrifying. We hadn't experienced that in years and that was just his first home game.
Plus, I was out at the clubs 3 to 4 days a week back then downtown. I didn't miss a nickle beer night at Phinnaes Phogg's for 2 years straight. Our group played Rugby for UCF and were loud at that place straight from practice. Ran into many Magic players Brian Shaw, Shaq, Dennis, Nick, Grant, Penny, Shaq etc. 3 or 4 of them would all go out to the clubs together. Shaq would park his Mercedes convertable right in front of Barbarella's for retro night or acid jazz night. Shaq was the most personable of them all. If he walked by you, he would give you a smile or a wink even if he didn't know or care to know you. Penny seemed like the rudest of them all, but I realize now that may have been him being really introverted and stand-offish, but a young guy like me took it like he was a jerk. But, I did see him out the latest at the after hours club at like 4am once hangin with the DJ with his boys. Never saw Penny hang with other players off court. I loved him on the court tho. But for me, Shaq's time here was the most exciting time this city has had in sports. It was crazy. And, I was there for Dwights first game at the O-Rena as well and have a picture of me sitting in Dwights chair in front of his locker. It still doesn't compare to Shaq's time.
Minor note, back in 2010, JJ was pound for pound, the strongest man on the team as per the chart in the locker room.

I always loved Terry Catledge's triple/quadruple pump fake. It stated everything the early teams were: all heart and no hope.

Penny and then Terry Catledge. I was in the Navy in Orlando in early 90's. Terry Catledge used to play ball with us on the Navy base. I became a Magic fan instantly because of TC in 1990.
Penny was and still my favorite NBA player. We both graduated the same year although he was a year older. I saw him in high school at a tournament and was blown away. I followed him at Memphis and was ecstatic when we drafted him. Shaq was here but Penny was the most popular. I believe that why the Magic initially low balled Shaq because Penny "seemed" more valuable. Hindsight is 20/20.

Penny. He was just so creative and smooth. After he left T-Mac came in and dominated so effortlessly. To this day those are my 2 favorite players of all time 1A and 1B. Between then and now I've appreciated a few players we had/have. Jameer Nelson and Elfrid Payton were favorites of mine as well as Markelle on the current team.
My opinion may not be your opinion or their opinion but I have it.
