Just reinforces what we know. We are a .500- team. Paolo + Franz are children. Our backcourt needs work but anything resembling actual "G" + WCJ should be good enough for that recipe.

I keep dreaming of a world where we upgrade Fultz position + G. Harris position and somehow convince Cole Anthony to be a bench player and a miracle JI can play 20 MPG what that team could look like.

I don't think well see it. Its a fun ride for now though.

Just imagine how awful it would have felt if we still had Vuc, Fournier, and AG as a .500 team for the last 30 games, 10 games under .500, and 5 teams between us and the 8th seed. Months ahead of a draft with a prospect some argue is the best prospect (or better) since Lebron and the 2nd and possibly 3rd prospects being very good talents relative to other drafts. Everyone interested in the Magic becoming good would be calling for the GMs head.

I am not sure having already added a couple young good players to the mix changes the calculus here. If we would play for draft seeding with vets, we should do it with young guys too. And Maybe it all works out and we finish right where we are (42% chance of top 4), or maybe we we win a few we shouldn't and end up in 9th and what currently is a 95% chance of picking 13th or worse

The reality of the situation is the cutter/off-ball players don't know how the isolated defender is going to guard P and how P will attack/counter after the initial defense. Just blindly moving will likely get in the way or more likely have your defender get in the way and help. It's often best in that situation to just stay as spread as possible and give Paolo as much options as he can in terms of moves to get off the play he has to get off in that situation.

I don't disagree, Paolo needs to know where his dump-offs are...I guess the triple & quadruple teams are more a function of "my guy is camped out at the three-point line. Good! I'll go triple team and ignore these non-shooting losers"

This is my favorite running post on Real GM. I appreciate you keeping track of this data.

Many posters foolishly spew all kinds of advanced stat data that they don't understand, but this is the one that I look forward to reading.

Well said.

I would add however, that even in ISO, there needs to be spacers that become cutters once they see what the ISO person is doing.

The perfect example is the ISO that occurred at the end of the Piston game. Fultz became a cutter as did WCJ for the tip in attempt. There were spacers on the wings.

All road wins are good wins. After the poor game against the Pacers, this is a GREAT win.

So Paolo finished February going 1-33 from three for 3% shooting. How it is even possible?

The trick is realizing that numbers have no meaning this season. Anything goes.

I like the shot, it’s the hypocrisy of others that’s funny

I don't dislike Markelle but his fans straw man arguments are very tiring.

Intersting that you defined the origin of his slump. What he does with this knowledge will be key for the final 20 games.
