You can bet the Magic's long-planned, but never built entertainment complex would be put together before this All-Star game if they end up getting the winning bid.

This will be great timing since we'll have three all stars

The entertainment complex, which Martins has lied about the start date so many times it’s impossible to keep track of over the last decade, is set to break ground in the summer. Can’t keep postponing it now if we’re submitting a bid.

Deadlines spur action as they say. If the Magic do win this bid, you can pretty much guarantee the entertainment complex will be completed before that all-star game happens.

If they don’t win the bid, and I assume they’ll find out very soon as Indiana received the 2024 bid in November 2020, then the entertainment complex likely won’t happen on that timeline.

Keep in mind, the league owes us a non-lockout All-Star Weekend. As good as 2012 was, a lot of events that normally happen didn’t.

The entertainment complex is definitely going to happen now between this bid (the construction will begin before the official submission) and the athletic training practice center having been built. You don’t want your players and recruits checking out that East view and continue seeing that emptiness when you look towards the arena and I-4.

The timing is not coincidental, with the Magic seeking money from the tourist development tax to upgrade the Amway. Now they can use the NBA to leverage funds. Silver will say you need X, Y and Z amenities to win the bid (whether true or not), Magic will get their money, Orlando will get All-Star Weekend.

Seems fine to me. Orlando seems like the kind of city that is suitable to host the ASG every so many years.

Personally I haven't really enjoyed any part of All Star Weekend recently, so I usually just take some time off from the NBA.

We have no workers in Florida to build something like that right now.
