Based on what?

Way too early to come to that conclusion.

Houstan was bad. His PER was 6. That's horrible. But in that he still shot 33% with the long ball and had an eFG% of 49%; he had a stellar FT shooting line at 83%. The kid can stroke it.
Houstan has an NBA skill, and if he can become not horrible at things like defense and off-ball movement, there is a place for him in the league.

Will he ever be a consistent rotational player? Probably not. But journeyman players that serve a 9-12 role are still valuable. He just "feels" like more than a G-Leaguer. I compare him to Jay Scrubb. There, I think I would say Houstan is the better player. If the final roster slot is between Houstan and Kevon Harris, I could go either way personally.

As a second rounder, Houstan had 1 year to show that he could at least shoot effectively, being that he was drafted to be a "shooter". He has no other coveted skills in his draft profile. I think you get 1 year to show that you can shoot and then we move on. I'm in the group ready to move on. Especially if we keep all 3 picks.

I can't judge Houstan too harshly being that he was a rookie, in limited minutes, and didn't look terrible in those.

I think he picks up Okeke's minutes.

This is partially why I don't see Orlando drafting 2 wings with #6 and #11. Houstan can get some minutes on a rookie deal for another 3 years.

Houstan shot about 38% from three all season until one cold stretch at the very end tanked his percentage. I think he's a smart player who plays team ball and doesn't turn it over. I don't know if he'll pan out long term but I'm not ready to cut him loose.

But anyway, I really like Jordan Hawkins and what he can bring to the team. He would step off the plane as our most dangerous shooter. He has that modern NBA skill of rising and firing with minimal space and time. If we keep our picks, I would not be unhappy with him.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Nah, I'm not close to confidently making any kind of binding statement yet. I still need to research lots of guys. And by that I mean, watch ten minutes of their offensive highlights and ignore defense entirely. Scouting is easy.
