The problem with Franz wasnt playing the 2, it was when he was forced to play a quasi-one. When he was the only ball handler/facilitator on the court.
Outside of playing a distributor, what position versatile players play is dependent on who they can guard. Frans was fine against all but the quickest of 2 guards... and we know he can punish the smaller players on the other side of the court...

Its the big lineups we should be thinking about.

It took Franz forever to even get into initiation of offensive set as ballhandler.

At SG over time he would be runned into a ground from running and chasing those smaller guards through screens.

He is first good SF we had in a decade, let's just keep him there. This is one of reasons why i have zero interest in guys like OG

I think Team Italy identified him at a young age and helped him apply for dual citizenship with the hopes he'd play for them long term. I feel like Banchero would probably feel a certain loyalty to them, but playing for Team USA is way bigger for his profile and it's probably better for his development. I feel like guys always come back from playing with Team USA a little better than before. Being around all those other great players is good for him. Either way, I hope he plays in the games for either USA or Italy. Overall I think it would be a positive experience for him.

Or playing with the other great players on the USA team he learns and picks up more...

Playing 20mpg in two or three tournaments in his whole career for USA
vs
Playing major minutes in a FIBA tournament every 2 years for Italy.

That's my honest view.

Paolo getting to practice with better players on team USA and be mentored vs a bigger role.

Give me team USA.

True.. I just hope there isn't any "under-the-table" shenanigans like what happened to make that "decision" on MIA

the goal for the org is to get back to the point that we're worthy of shenanigans again - not a farm team

Curry : Hey paolo, you know... i have 2-3 good years left, what say you force yourself here to win a ring with me and become the next face of the franchise.

LBJ : Hey Paolo, wanna have a role in space jam 3? Bright lights here... bigger pond as well. Hollwywood needs the next Italain Stallion now that Stallone is retired.. what say demandinf a trade here?

Booker : wanna go out with the Kardashians?

Jokes aside.. Paolo as the rookie might get easily influenced by the vets in the team...

I remember a summer when 2 of the top 5 young stars in the NBA were legit threats to come. We got one and a lesser guy thrown in who led the NBA in scoring...the taxes haven't changed and the weather hasn't changed. We are worthy. It's all about the competitive situation.
