Ten year span

Post#1 » by MagicHolland » Sun Jul 2, 2023 12:01 pm

No grey area, what’s your preferred option;

Option 1: 9 years of failing to reach the playoffs but the one year we become nba champs.

Or;

Option 2: 10 years of deep playoff runs with at least one finals appearance but no championship.

Option 1 would suck to go through, because there's gotta be a lot of disappointing and/or injury-riddled seasons in there.

But option 2 sounds like torture for a franchise and fanbase with 0 championships, so give me option 1 anyway.

If I were a fan of a franchise like the Celtics/Heat/Spurs I may lean towards option 2 instead. I think you're generally having a better time, on average, following a team going through a 10-year period like that.

1, because the title would be in the last year and that would mean we would continue to be good after that :)

Got to go option 1.

I've been a fan of teams that have always gone through long periods of mediocrity or outright incompetence, both the Bucs and the Magic, so missing the playoffs would be nothing new as a spectator.

But both times the experience of seeing the Bucs win the Super Bowl made all those years of watching failure so much fun. Getting to watch the Magic go on a run like that would be straight up spiritual. Rapturous.

We want a championship so the option that gives us a championship.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.-John 3:16

Go Magic, Go Dwight, Go Vuc, Go Paolo, Go Keegan :)

Funny that the 3 option 2 votes haven’t posted why.

Back in the day I would’ve voted option one. Now I’m leaning more towards option two.

As frustrating as it might feel, I’d rather have the deep PO run every year. The finals years were great even though we lost.

This is like the Bucs selling out for Brady to win a title. Tampa will be not-good for a while. And I don't care. A title is a title. None of this dynasty crap; just win one.

Easily option-1 for me.

In the NBA, a team has to push in whenever this is a 10% chance to win it all. That's just how this league works.
