Not sure how Houstan is overrated or underrated . He isn’t rated at all.

• Takes a Leap: Paolo (if he can improve defense and 3 pt shooting could make him our #1)

• Key Addition: Ingles (improve bench offense/shooting and be the adult voice in the locker room)

This has got to be our last try with Isaac…and he deserves it, imo, he’s that impactful, even in a limited deployment. But…there comes a time to move on. Hopefully, he’s healthy, but Jan 10 is the fully-guaranteed date…I’d say that’s THE day for him & ORL

i cant say "he deserves it". i just think its time to move on because he wont be healthy

I 100% agree with you...I only meant that his potential impact/talent warrants one more look. I would have bailed on a lot of others a long time ago...his off-court stuff doesn't help his case, but I also don't weigh that in my analysis.

I find it crazy when people talk so much about "doing right by players", helping them get where they want, rewarding their loyalty, etc...they got paid well for their jobs and FO should make the best moves for the team. Always! I also understand if an org treats players badly and is difficult for agents to work with, that can hinder any future moves. Super-Agencies cannot be avoided, so there must be a fair balance. It would be bad form for POR to send Dame to say, CHA against his will (or ORL for that matter), but I also feel he needs to understand that a list of one team isn't right either...We've been more than patient with Isaac's issues, he's not happy about them either, this should be it, IMO, and nobody could blame ORL for tapping out. We didn't owe TRoss, or Fultz, or MoW any favors, just fairness for both sides.

Franz is better right now for sure, and we talk only about offense. There is non zero chance Banchero will never be as impactful on both sides as Franz.

Franz better shooter dont see it changing
Franz better pnr ball handler propably will not change
Franz better moving without the ball, wont change
Paolo better isolation scorer
Paolo better in the post
Franz better defender.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

• Best Player: Paolo - He is our hope of a true #1
• Most Overrated: Suggs. Sorry for all the fans but he needs to majorly improve still to secure a future with the team.
• Most Underrated: Cole Anthony. Overlooked but still young and developing.
• Could Surprise: Jett Howard. If he does well has a chance to make some noise in year 1.
• Takes a Leap: I’ll say Paolo. He will be expected to do so.
• Prove-it Year: Isaac. This seems to be the last chance.
• Key Addition: Pretty much just the rookies and Ingles, so I will say I’m really curious to see Jett Howard.

Why? Every advanced metric & every impact stat tells us Franz is the much better player. In a year or 2 this can change for sure.

Lol i’m just saying his observation makes franz be overrated.

But if you’re asking me whether franz is overrated or not, I’d say he is next on my list after Caleb Houstan.

Like I said in my superlative post, thought in a different category, Franz defers way too much for his teammates. I’d need to see him be more aggressive and step up especially when the team is losing. Him having single digit attempts especially when our team is losing isn’t exactly what we need from our top options, imo. I want franz to be more aggressive because that would unlock more avenues for us.

I like your inclusion of Chuma here...he's become an afterthought, but I think he's shown enough (not frequently enough) to make him a fair bet for a "re-birth", especially if no one else grabs Isaac's minutes (including Isaac). I'd put a lot more faith in his NBA career than Bol's. It's a lot more substance than style...Having said that, if Chuma can't make shots this season - that could be it for him. I could easily see Chuma jumping ahead of Mo Wagner in the rotation with a good camp and early season...not putting money on it, but...

Also, like Paolo for "Takes a Leap"...I put him for Best Player because he's supposed to be and will be the unquestioned star of this team. But, I would also agree that Franz has simply been more efficient and, perhaps, impactful so far. I love Franz, but this is the year that I think Paolo separates from the crowd, in terms of taking over and winning games. Franz is awesome, but less of a leading man-type of player...that's not a lesser role, just easier to take for granted.

• Most Overrated: Black?
• Most Underrated: Fultz
• Could Surprise: Suggs

I think the Magic find themselves more in need of Jett’s shooting and scoring this season than Black’s playmaking, and Jett surprises. Black doesn’t disappoint, but Jett fills a big need.

I’d say Suggs is the most underrated because he’s not mentioned much but he often ranks highly in polls for core players. Fultz is only underrated because his critics paint the worst picture of him possible, I don’t think anyone else rated him as anything but another player with potential worth evaluating a bit further.

Black is only ‘overrated’ in the sense he’s the hot new addition and we all want to see more of him than we might like or get to.

Best player - Paolo has more gravity and more capacity to carry the offensive load than Franz. Franz is smarter and more efficient, but Paolo is the offensive engine and bucket getter in spite of his rookie inefficiency.

And-1

It amuses how much many/most fans value rookies.

Taking nothing away from Franz, Paulo is just the alpha player.
Also taking nothing away from WCJ. Love his energy and hustle and play it's just I could see him becoming a long term back up center pretty easily. Cole could very easily be here as well I just feel like there's more people that also hold very little value for his play. Yes he contributes when making shots but is most often a net negative to team play.

I was high on Chuma having a breakout year last year so why not double down on him again this year. I felt like his individual defense was extremely good in the early part of the season whilst most of the team was injured. Poor timing for Chuma had him out with injuries himself when the rest of the team was healthy. He was available later on in the season and it felt very much like the notion was that he fell out of the rotation. I didn't really see that being the case. I feel like we were trying to tank without being obvious about it. Thus no need to hurry him back into the lineup. I think they were letting him continue to rest and rehab and build strength and conditioning while evaluating the rest of the roster.

Isaacs got to prove he can stay healthy. Also I can see how any guard on the roster could be in the prove it year. We could run all of them throughout the entire season and see who works best for our future but I think it's easy to see who is already headed out of town.

The biggest mystery -Jett Black. Will one of them become our next stud to pair with Franz and banchero???!
