The Heat fan thing genunely doesn't bother me at all. I don't really care who someone chooses to cheer for in their personal time. Just do good work professionally. That's literally all I care about,

The Heat fan thing bothers me too. It’s probably unfair to the guy. Not his fault. There’s just a lot of bandwagon Heat fans living in Orlando.

It is just like... why can't we have nice things? I've not enjoyed our news coverage in years and lean on our pod-casts for analysis and news. OS should realize that podcasts are a thing and the old model isn't as essential and give the platform to some local fans. I think they'll succeed and create more compelling content than we've had in eons.

It doesn’t really bother me but it’s just so on-brand for the Magic to have a beat writer who is a fan of a rival team. It’s almost comical, lol.

I'm sure he'll do fine too but is it really that hard to find a Magic fan that is a good writer and needs a job? lol

I wonder what a gig like that pays these days. I'm assuming not much but I could be wrong.

The Orlando Sentinel should give him an extra $5 bucks a month to get a blue check mark on Twitter.

A Magic fan being the beat writer is probably problematic. You don't want that kind of bias covering the team. As a fan, I am always finding myself doing mental gymnastics for our guys one way or the other.

Josh Robbins was good, he was a Washington fan, i do wonder how his coverage of DC is going. What we need is someone who A: is well connected B. understands basketball.

For instance, I really like Robbins coverage of the Magic youth by writing what league scouts thought of them. Probably more reliant on his position at the Athletic.

Ideally we would have a national guy cover the Magic a little more. I guess the problem is more the decline of media, specifically local media over the last decade or more.

Reading, listening to national basketball coverage is just night and day vs at least local Orlando coverage.

He's a Heat fan you guys can sugarcoat all you want. But the fandom in you should despise such things. I'd fire him. Just remember when the Heat are playing in our arena and you hear all their fans, he'll be like this.
