Sometimes I hate how vanilla this front office is

I feel like this year the front office prioritized high IQ guys who they see as long term bets. Black with his all around skills and strategic mindset and Jett with his shiftiness and father’s will to improve.

To me this draft telegraphed they aren’t going for players who will contribute right away. I think they still see the window to compete as 2-3 years from now.

Summer league is perfect environment for someone like Whitmore. Athletic, can shoot and selfish. Anybody remembers Kevin Knox ?
Black will be a lot better with organized setting similar to Franz. You can recognize patterns, predict movement, use opponents habits against them.
I am not worried one bit about Howard. 6'7, 40% shooter with better passing and defense than anticipated ? I would take him above Whitmore once more.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

The NBA community got to catch a glimpse of Black's play-style .... at the Summer League.

Black averaged four turnovers per game and shot a subpar 40.6 percent from the field, including an abysmal 16.7 percent from downtown.

Black is very far from being a positive player on this team.

As expected of a rookie.. especially a rookie PG.

That is why I don't understand why some here think Black is a savior in his rookie season and immediately needs to get rid of Fultz/Cole/Suggs.

We throw him in the fire and we guarantee to have a similar 5-20 record to start.

I guess because it's hard to throw him in fire when he is 4th string PG.

Black will get thrown into the fire at practice. All of the guards could either sign a new or get an extension at the end of this season. Black has 3 seasons to prove himself. It's do or die for the rest of the guards.
