To be eligibable for supermax you need to be veteran with 8+ years in nba , along with several other achivments to even enter conversation (MVPs, DPOYs etc)

As whole Wembaynama thing goes, if you can't understand what's special about 7'4- 19 years old player with 30 professional basketball games in his life, averaging 20-10 while being 3rd in blocks , all that while still having underdeveloped body in terms of muscles i really don't know what to tell you.

When he enters his prime he will have games where quadruple double will be achivable. Like guy had 8 blocks last week, against Nuggets he had 4 blocks, 6 steals to go along 22-11. At age of 19. Against best player on planet Earth ( by faaar).

Spurs suck because they want to suck, they didn't even bother getting actual PG . Matter of fact they didn't even try to get anybody, they just used cap (that nba forced them to use) to resign own mediocrity Zach Collins.

They are entering 2024 draft with:
own pick (probably top 5)
Raptors top 6 protected pick (today, lottery pick)
Hornets top 14 protected pick

2025-
Bulls top 10 protected pick
Hawks pick with no protection
own pick

Odds are , in 3-4 years, they will have several top 10 picks drafted on current team, along with Victor + s*** load of salary cap.

Banchero has a chance to become great player, Victor has chance to become one of best players in history.

Paolo was averaging 21/7/4 (and 8 FTs per game) through his first 30 professional games. That seems good.

Wemby is only getting 3.6 FTs a game. That's a concern, no? We dealt with a big man who couldn't get to the line when we had Vuc and it was aggravating.

Imo people focus too much what 19 years old , 7'4- 210 pounds is today, over what will his capabilities and ceiling will be in 2-3 years once you put actual basketball roster around him AND he grows into his body.
If you can have way faster Gobert on defense mixed with AD offense, that's probably perrennial MVP/DPOY candidate for next 10+ years, and neither of those feel like his ceiling, more like his floor.

If he learns nothing about basketball and just continues to be what he is today, he will still become DPOY in few years . I watched Spurs- Nuggets game and guy straight out has 3 deflections, 3 blocks, 2 steals on Jokic, on plays where Jokic did nothing wrong, it's just his freakish size & agility that covers ground no other player can dream of, let alone actually do.

And Jokic is so far ahead of everybody in nba in terms of offense that you can make strong case for Jokic as like top 5 best offensive players ever. Yet there it is that 19 years old kid bothering him.

Wemby can just hold his hands up in his prime and average 14 rpg and 4 bpg.

Paolo will have to work harder to put up stats. I think Paolo can be like a thick Tatum.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.
