Goga => Jarrett Allen??

Goga was one of my guys in the 2019 draft, before the Magic went offscript. Not sure why the Pacers drafted him when they already had Myles Turner. Kind of reminds me of drafting Bamba with Vuc.

Also I think the Pacers thought Goga was a floor spacer as he was taking(and missing) 4-5 3s per 36 there, maybe they were disappointed. He has always been good defenisively..

Not sure he is athletic as Allen, but I could see him putting up a similar line given the opportunity/minutes...still confused at how he only got a third string big contract

Goga shot 73% from the line his first couple years...so the touch seems like it might be there, he probably had a good % before last night.

It didn’t work out because Indy is allergic to defense and Goga can play top notch defense lol. Their stupidity is our gain.

Goga is perfectly adequate and a great fit for this lineup. But to answer the title question...NO

Allen or Claxton would be fantastic starting Centers next to Paolo. I've been saying for a long time that WCJ is really good (better overall than Goga) but not really a perfect fit. We don't really need WCJ's versatility - some other team would. We should explore moving him and be on the lookout to upgrade starting PG and starting C. Goga might continue to impress - he also might be looking for a big payday this summer that might make him an immediate negative if he stays where he is, talent-wise. I'm liking Goga and I don't see Weltman overpaying him (or anyone), so I hope it works out long-term.

Are you sure you aren't talking about the one with Foster, the year before Carlisle got there?

Foster got suspended for a game and Goga got a fine IIRC.
