Re: The Ringer: How the Jalen Suggs Revival Has Elevated the Magic
We could have been a 50 win team with a healthy players at the PG / F / PF / C slots. (Fultz / Ingles / WCJ / Isaac.)
I think the likelihood of that has shut for now.

Re: The Ringer: How the Jalen Suggs Revival Has Elevated the Magic
Jalen Suggs has been completely different than what he presented in his first year...in accent, personality, and play style.
But I'm glad to have this healthier version of Jalen. We benefit so much from his play and personality.

The Improvement is real man....he's on that afflalo track, in the sense that it seemed like aaron got better every year....i feel like Jalen is going to get better every year, he has so far...i wonder how much better he'll be next season? If he improves his playmaking and finishing at the rim next season? he'll be damn near a complete player

Re: The Ringer: How the Jalen Suggs Revival Has Elevated the Magic
Jalen is one of the few players who needs to slow down to the game, rather than have the game slow down for him. I love his playstyle and all-in effort, he's really easy to root for and he brings the rest of the team's energy with him. If he can learn to be a bit more methodical offensively he'll be an all-star level player, IMO. He'll also probably be injured less as a result.

My sentiments exactly. Particularly when he goes to the basket, he goes so hard and so fast he often overshoots and his momentum is just too strong. Either his touch needs to soften in those instances or he's going to keep blowing layups. A half step slower and he'll be able to adjust and finish a bit easier.

But c'mon guys... do we need to go as far as saying he's a better shooter than Steph?
no one said he was a better shooter than Steph. I said he's shooting a better 3pt% for the season than Curry, which I found funny. It is also 100% true 39.9%>39.8%
You cursed him. Last 3 games have been atrocious.

Re: The Ringer: How the Jalen Suggs Revival Has Elevated the Magic
Dude, I ran the Suggs percentiles and they are just NUTS
Among all shootings guards Suggs is:
Offense
70th percentile in FG%
73rd percentile in 3P%
75th percentile in FTA
75th percentile in offensive rebounds
70th percentile in assists
77th percentile in points
53rd percentile in offensive box score plus minus
39th percentile in offensive rating
Defense
76th percentile in defensive rebounds
93rd percentile in steals
95th percentile in blocks
89th percentile in defensive box score plus minus
93rd percentile in defensive rating
His main opportunities are in cutting down on turnovers (16th percentile) and committing fouls (2nd percentile). His OnCourt (45th percentile) and On-Off (31st percentile) are also rough.
Its really not a question of "is he our starting SG of the future" but "can he stay on the court for longer periods of time". I think the answer is around him finding a balance between aggressive play that gets him hurt and into foul trouble vs aggressive play that maintains his tenacious defensive impact.

Great stuff. The biggest positive of the first half of the season is that we know Suggs is part of the core. We have 3/5 of the starters we need as we build towards a contender. AB may be another one but he’s not there yet. Goga is nice but we could upgrade there as well one day… but we now know Paolo, Franz, and Suggs are sure-fire core players.

i have not been able to watch full games recently but apparently he was playing while sick.. Suggs will have good and bad games, even the greatest shooters have off nights where they cant make a basket. He's still shooting almost 40% for the season.

I thought this was going to be one of those "look at how the team wins when the players play well!" but that's actually pretty remarkable.
