Assistant Coach Search

Post#1 » by Audi » Fri Jun 14, 2024 6:01 pm

As you may (or may not!) know, there's been a big vacancy in the assistant coach spot left behind by Nate Tibbetts when he left to coach in the WNBA. All the more reason to heap praises on Mosley and his team for what they were able to accomplish short handed in that regard.

So who do you have as a good assistant coach to fill that gap and make Coach Mose's life a little easier? Phil Handy - a highly respected player development coach with 3x championships who was recently axed by LAL? Offensive-minded championship coach Terry Stotts to balance with our defense? Maybe bring in an old player like Penny Hardaway to try his hand at coaching at the NBA level?

Can we do a heat check with him every game? When he's on, he stays in uni, but when not he throws on a suit and tie?

I think since he and JB Bickerstaff are close friends, bringing another guy in with head coaching experience could be good for this team. Maybe bring in Darrell Armstrong.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

I like that (JB)...would like a real "Offensive Coordinator" (not sure if that's JB, but I like the concept)

I was going to say Armstrong. Maybe Stotts.

Wouldn't this be the place for JJ Reddick to get his feet wet coaching. He was drafted by the magic. Spent several years here. He's a Duke guy. His work ethic would fit in perfectly with this group and maybe his 3 point shooting would run off on some of the magic players.

First thing I thought of when JB was fired. JJ would be cool too. I don’t know anything about Darrell as a coach but that would be intriguing as well. Didn’t Mose work with Darrell in Dallas?

If i’m not mistaken we have a new guy who’s been in the practice court since a few weeks ago. Part of a coaching staff that was fired. I forgot who, but has worked with Mose.

Heard it on a magic podcast few days ago

Whoever wd get, needs to be more offensive focused.

Terry Stotts should be looked at. HC experience and was willing to be a lead assistant this season.
