I think its pretty set that he's going to sign with us. I don't hate the move but I don't think he's the player we need. I honestly think we need a playmaker in the SL but Klay does help and he's one of the best shooters in the league so...

Klay is the player we need for the young guys.

Let’s be realistic here, we’re not winning any championship in a year or two. So why not bring in a guy who can help elevate the game of our core players and let them know what it takes to be a champion?

Klay won’t be the flashiest move at all, but he’ll help us win games and be the veteran mentor these kids need.

Klay Thompson is still Klay Thompson, even on his bad shooting nights, opponents still won’t leave him wide open. He is still a valuable addition on and off the court.

Having a future HOF around guys like Franz, Paolo and Jalen is a huge addition to their growth and development as a player.

While I understand the sentiment behind this…

This is also the reason Orlando will never be in contention for anything moving forward. Teams competing for championships don’t sign these kinds of players to large deals. They take them at near vet minimum when they have already pushed the chips in. That’s the difference. There’s absolutely a reason why GS isn’t resigning him and prioritizing their youth instead.

It’s like the Warriors having Andre Iguodala on their team for $1.8m, Dragic on Milwaukee for vet min, when competing for championships. No, they aren’t paying them anywhere close to their going rate. Klay is in the latter group at this point than the former.

Vince Carter was basically cooked when he played in Orlando making $17m a season. He became 6th man of the year two seasons later dropping to $4m his next contract. Orlando loves doing this ****. Buy high, sell low, go nowhere.

I hate this perception that Orlando is where players go to chill on the bench an go on cruise control while they collect fat paychecks. I can’t disagree though when it’s **** like this that keeps happening. Orlando is the retirement home of the nba. Where is Aminu?

No to Klay. Don't need another declining Vince Carter on this team. I think he has one solid season left in him and this team is not competing for a ship next year. hard pass.

MIA entering a 'transition'? need cap space? send him over

Cole Anthony & DEN frp (+16m cap space)

We'd still have 25m+ to play with

If he wants to make $16M a year there is whole bunch of conteders to go before us.

Don't disagree... Let them sign him then... Only reason our FO should entertain this is if he will take that much AND wants to be here....

You’re right that he is big enough to defend most of the two guards now, But we are building an team around large, multi dimensional players. While he is A good defender at SG, I think as a point guard he’s huge and would be able to dominate even more With the size of Advantage.

He's young and that's a steal...not too many guys who play every game (except Klay-who played 77 :D )

The only way you categorize Suggs as a PG, if you're not being delusional, is by height. Covering PG's does not give you PG skills. Suggs covers much taller guys effectively...his height's kind of irrelevant. Taller is always better, if ALL other variables are equal, but he's fine at SG (which is fortunate because that's his skillset too).

Isaac covered Lillard, so he's a PG too

He averages 57 games a season. Missed lots of games every season.

I’m not on the injured player boat any longer.

I get that. There's a line where a move becomes reckless...there's also a line, where playing it safe leads you backwards...I'm afraid that's our FO's comfort zone - no tolerance for risk or possibility of mistakes. May not be, we'll know this summer.

I'd love a totally reliable, healthy guy who is good enough to move the needle for this team beyond the second round (like Murray) but...if that doesn't materialize, you take a swing with your cap space. All of the "run it back"ers will still be able to plug in AB, etc if the big swing doesn't involve core players. I don't have any interest in a totally reliable, healthy guy who doesn't help - tough call. Injury gives you access to "steals", but with greater risk...always compromises and risk if you're trying to get better.

I'm not totally familiar with the nature of Herro's injuries...he may or may not be a problem. Obviously, that's part of the decision/due diligence.
