I think we are more like what the Teen Titans are to the Justice League.
Though the teen titans did give them trouble on a few occasions over the last two seasons. Lol

Al Hofrod- allstar in year 3 at age of 23.
Jrue Holiday- allstar in year 4, at age of 22. 4th in NBA in APGs.
Porzingis- allstar in year 3 at age of 22. 16th in scoring, 2# in blocks.
Like, their "supporting cast" is bunch of players who in first 3-4 years accomplished so damn much.
This is what people are missing here.
The Franz/Paolo - Tatum/Brown stuff is where the comparisons kind of stop when it comes down to mainly where the majority of your cap space is spent positionally.
Carter is not mother **** Al Horford. Lol guy is 1/8 the player Horford was at his age.
He carried those Hawks teams and had DPoY votes in 2015-18. That will NEVER be scrub Carter.
I'm hoping Suggs can be a hybrid between Jrue and D.White but it isnt super likely he will be anywhere near the same caliber of player Jrue was in his year 4.
Franz and Paolo have the ability to be as good or better than Tatum/Brown in just different aspects. They better improve their outside shooting though if this team is going to accomplish anything.
Adding KP is the ridiculous part. Guy was a cornerstone franchise talent before he was injured.
Keeping this to AB.. nobody knows what this kid is yet. We probably wont know until later this season or next season. Last I checked Boston didn't have a 6'7 guard that can defend 3 positions and run point.

This. Some of you must not be watching the same basketball some of us are.

Coaching staff must have missed it too.

hey; we live in a world full of endless possibilities! but all jokes aside, i wasnt implying that he had it in his rookie year. some stuff was downright ugly. but i do think he has the potential. i think once the staff realized that we were actually going somewhere last season, they had to pull him back. he was never going to be an instant star type first or second year player. but there IS potential

it's just bunch of similar arhytypes trown together as "comparison". Or in Black/White case it's not even similar arhytype. Just bunch of random names.
Magic are no similar to Celtics than OKC or even Pacers are:
Tatum & Brown = Haliburton & Siakam & Williams & SGA
Porzingis = Turner & Chet
White = Mathurin & Dort
Jrue = Nembhard & Wallace
But you can do this with pretty much any team.
Tatum & Brown = Lamelo & Miller
White = NIck Smith
Porzingis = soon to be probably Sarr
It's just how basketball teams are built. 2 ballhandlers , one -two big men, 1-2 additional ballhandlers & shooters. It's not like Celtics started this "new basketball brand", that's pretty much execlly how 90s Bulls looked in that version with Grant.
And people still undervalue how good Tatum as player is. Even when he shoot bricks he has 2 defenders on him all the time.
They also got pretty lucky with injuries. The only guy out any of amount of time was KP. They could have easily had oft injured Jrue and 40 year old Al gone for the playoffs. Really happy that UF's best basketball player got a ring though.

Even though he didnt take a ton of 3s, I was shocked how much his 3pt shooting improved in a few months from Summer League. I really hope Black surprises us all again next season and comes in much improved and ready to be a 20+MPG player for us. At least to give us current Dante Exum role.

I agree…I love his game. I only push back at the constant (no offense-not you) suggestions that he’s a 40% 3pt sniper (on such limited volume) and that he’s anywhere near ready to start at PG next to Suggs, who is also still offensively challenged.
My goal for AB would be to get him MUCH more PT without putting too much creation responsibility on him yet. Put him in the Jingles role, Point Forward, facilitator next to an aggressive guard like Cole or Monk, deployed defensively with a specific assignment- like we do with Isaac…just get what you can from him as he methodically stretches his comfort zone. I’ve never felt that he WON’T be a starting PG someday, just that he hasn’t clearly shown that that’s his destiny yet. He’s still a fascinating possibility with an unclear picture of what he will be…for now, he’s big and humble, and a solid defender…just keep adding. Learn to (or demonstrate) more cutting, finishing, pull-up off the dribble, and creative passing, while we wait for the finished product.

Thatd be my thinking too. Make him the Jingles as a route to getting better on-ball.
